Mingxi County, located in Guihua County in the 6th year of Ming Chenghua (1470), was subordinate to Tingzhou Prefecture, Chief Secretary of Fujian Province. 1933 was renamed Mingxi county, and 1983 belongs to Sanming city. Located in the middle of Sanming City, at the southern foot of Wuyi Mountain, it borders 9 counties (cities, districts) of Sanming City. The county covers an area of 1730 square kilometers, governs 4 towns and 5 townships, and has 96 villages (residences) with a total population of 65,438.
