The story of the film is inspired by the life experience of director Peter Sun. In the early 1970s, Peter Sun's parents immigrated to the United States from Korea and opened a lively grocery store in the Bronx. Everyone is integrated into a melting pot composed of different cultures, languages and social relations.

Although Peter was told that he could only marry Koreans when he was a child, when he grew up, he married a white wife of half Italian descent, so that he could only associate behind his parents' backs at first. Later, in the process of getting along with each other's families, his parents found many similarities from their daughter-in-law who was also an immigrant, and then opened their hearts to each other, changing from opposing their marriage to accepting their daughter-in-law.
