Social Status of Chinese Americans

The income and social status of Chinese Americans vary greatly. Although many China people living in the big city Chinatown are poor, the well-educated elites live in places like Cupertino, Palo Alto, Chinogon, Diamond Bar and San Marino. The social status of the upper and lower classes in China is very different. China people at the lower level are often discriminated against by China people at the upper level, and are regarded as uneducated workers and illegal immigrants. For example, in san gabriel valley Valley although the two cities, Montreal Park and San Marino, are both Chinese communities with close geographical location, they are separated by huge socio-economic and income differences.

Famous Chinese Americans include former commerce minister Gary Locke; Minister of Labour of Zhao Xiaolan; Steven Chu, Minister of Energy. There are also many elites, such as Wall Street investors and Lu Li.
