Dialogue with Master - Buddhist master talks about "suicide problem"

Sending station: Yannan Community ()

Why do people commit suicide? What is the mentality of a suicidal person? How to prevent yourself from short-sightedness? And how to help people with suicidal tendencies get out of the shadow of suicide and regain the hope of life? On July 6, 2003, Master Hsing Yun held a conversion ceremony to the Three Jewels in Australia. More than a thousand people from China and Australia attended. After the meeting, at the request of believers, a symposium was held on the issue of suicide. The following is the record of the day's discussion.

Time: July 6, 2003, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Location: Nantian Temple Main Hall

Host: Master Hsing Yun

Target audience: More than 1,000 believers in China and Australia

Q: According to statistics, many countries are currently concerned about the rising number of suicides year by year. Especially in Taiwan, it is more common for parents to force their children to accompany them. Suicide cases. Master, what is Buddhism’s view on suicide and moral issues?

Answer: The Chinese say: "A good death is worse than a bad life." However, some people feel that their lives are meaningless, so they want to commit suicide. He believes that doing so will not harm others. What does it have to do with others? How can there be any moral or immoral issues?

In fact, from the perspective of Buddhism, suicide is still killing and an immoral act. Buddhism does not allow people to commit suicide. Because a person's life does not belong to an individual. This flesh and blood body was originally born and raised by the union of parents, and receives various needs from society in order to thrive and grow. The completion of life is achieved by the common fate of the public, and of course it should be repaid to the public. Therefore, everyone has the obligation to make their life happier and more meaningful, but they have no right to destroy any life.

The three major Greek philosophers, Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, all opposed suicide. The first two are from the perspective of belief, believing that human life belongs to the gods, and people cannot commit suicide without the command of gods; while Aristotle is based on social ethics considerations. In his view, suicide is It is an unjust act inflicted on society and often reflects the lack of moral self-control of the person involved.

In addition, the medieval religious thinker Augustine believed that people only have the right to use and manage their own lives, but do not have absolute control over life and death. Another religionist, St. Thomas Aquinas, believed that all acts of killing oneself are self-murder that is not morally acceptable.

Is suicide ethical? Until the 20th century, Western countries basically regarded suicide or attempted suicide as immoral acts that could not be tolerated. Therefore, some countries also imposed penalties on those who attempted suicide. For example, the United Kingdom until 1961 in this way.

However, although suicide is immoral, it cannot be generalized. For example, many sages have committed suicide to become benevolent, giving up their lives for righteousness, and self-sacrifice for the benefit of the country and mankind. Can you say that this is not a great morality? If killing someone is immoral, then is it ethical for a judge to sentence someone to death? The purpose of sentencing criminals to death is to maintain social order, justice and justice. Can you say this is immoral? Another example is when two countries are at war. If there is a war, people will kill. Buddhism does not allow killing. Killing the enemy is a violation of the precepts. So, is it ethical to kill the enemy in war?

In fact, if you kill people with hatred, it is certainly immoral; if you kill people with compassion and save others, it is the morality of the Mahayana Bodhisattva. Just like a doctor who dissects a human body for medical experiments and sometimes transplants the person's organs into other people's bodies, is it ethical to save lives based on compassion like this? Or is it immoral?

The standard of morality and immorality should start from the human heart. Behaviors that are beneficial to others are moral, and behaviors that are harmful and unhelpful to others are immoral. In other words, doing something based on compassion is the ultimate morality; on the contrary, if the starting point is not compassion, even though it is a good thing, it is still incomplete morality. As the ethicist Bernard Haring said, if a country's spy takes his own life in order to maintain major secrets, it is not considered suicide, because this behavior is not out of selfish motives, but to protect the country. The secret is for national security; this act of ending one's personal life for some noble ideal is not "suicide", but "sacrifice and dedication."

According to Bernard Haring, only killing oneself out of selfish motives or immorality is called "suicide". For example, some people commit suicide to escape responsibility because they are frustrated in love, career failure, financial difficulties, long-term illness, or because they cannot bear a major blow at the moment, but leave the problem to the world and others to bear. This is Unethical behavior.

What is particularly reprehensible is that now some people not only commit suicide themselves, but also want others to die with them. For example, as I just asked, parents and children die together, or couples commit suicide together, or It can be said that it is a crazy behavior to die together with the enemy, which is difficult to sympathize with.

Not long ago, there was a middle-aged couple in Changhua, Taiwan. Due to financial difficulties, they couldn't think about it for a while. Therefore, the couple first swallowed sleeping pills, and then took their children to burn charcoal, preparing to commit suicide together. Fortunately, the children were discovered by neighbors because they were crying loudly, and they were rescued from hell.

There is also a divorced woman suffering from depression. She jumped from the third floor with her child. The child died on the spot. The woman herself did not die, but suffered multiple fractures, resulting in total paralysis. , and also plunged his future into a place of no return.

Suicide or even taking others with you to die is called ignorance, wrong views, and is also immoral. People cannot blame their pain on others, nor can they infect the people around them with their pain. We see many virtuous gentlemen in history. Even if their hearts are full of pain, they always force themselves to smile in front of others. They want to bring joy to others without infecting others with pain. Therefore, in our current society, we should strengthen life education, moral education, humanistic education, and religious education. In particular, people must have legitimate religious beliefs. If they have improper beliefs, lack of correct knowledge and correct views, and do not have a clear understanding of the truth and truth in the world, they will easily act recklessly. For example, some parents have wrong views and believe that taking their children to die together is because they cannot bear to leave them to suffer alone in the world. This is because they love them and it is a kind of relief. In fact, such behavior is unethical, a sin, and an incomprehensible act of selfishness.

Generally speaking, most people who commit suicide only think about themselves. They put all the focus of attention on themselves. All they think about is their own pain, their own troubles, and their own relief. But if there is love in his heart, if he can think of his children, parents, relatives, and friends, perhaps his life will be extended and he will not be so helpless.

There is a "Aokigahara Sea of ??Trees" in Japan. Because people often commit suicide here, the Fujiyoshida Police Station specially erected a sign at the entrance to advise people who want to commit suicide: "Our Life is a very precious thing that you get from your parents. Please calm down and think about your parents, brothers and children again. Don't worry about it alone. Please come and discuss it with me."

Human life must be born naturally, and it must also die naturally. It is wrong to insist on living and to give up. So before committing suicide, please give yourself a few more minutes to think. Think about it, people can solve problems while they are alive. How can they be solved after death? As long as you are willing to cheer up, there is no problem in the world that cannot be solved. Why bother to commit suicide to escape? Therefore, in order to eliminate suicide, we must increase our moral concepts and courage, have the idea of ????being with everyone in our hearts, and think that there are always first, second, and third solutions to problems. Why think about suicide? Is success the only way to solve the problem?

In short, everything in the world, from sentient to ruthless, has its own life and vitality, and we should protect and respect it. The so-called ants still live in vain, let alone humans? Therefore, ending one's precious life, or implicating or harming other people's lives as a result, are all immoral behaviors and should be regulated and prevented.

Question: As mentioned before, most people who commit suicide are because they encounter difficulties, have an unsatisfactory life, or feel pessimistic and disappointed about life, and feel that life is meaningless, so they passively seek relief through death. Master, how can you help people with suicidal tendencies build confidence and let them live with hope again?

Answer: As the saying goes: "If you keep the green hills, you won't be afraid of running out of firewood." Suicide does not actually solve the problem. It can only leave the world and future generations with more and greater problems and pain, so German philosopher Immanuel Kant believed that suicide is not allowed under any circumstances because it is a necessary and even complete obligation as a human being.

However, there are still many people in society who want to end their lives by suicide. Why? According to a research survey on "Causes of Suicide", in addition to mental abnormalities and personality problems, the average person commits suicide due to "suffering setbacks" and "not knowing what the meaning of life is." A large proportion. Therefore, the most important thing to prevent suicide is to live with joy and hope, especially with the world, sentient beings, cause and effect, and reason in your heart.

As mentioned before, everyone’s life is not their own. Life is the only thing in the world. You are only qualified to dedicate yourself to the public, and you can only try your best to live your life. It brings out meaning and value, but does not destroy the freedom of life.

The meaning of life lies in serving the public and achieving others; everyone should not only think about their own interests in life, but also think that dedication is the meaning of life, service is the meaning of life, and responsibility to society is the essence of life. Meaning and benefiting the public are the meaning of life.

A person can establish a sense of responsibility for himself, his family, his relatives, and the people he has received favors from, such as parents, teachers, etc. If you have not repaid your kindness and your responsibilities have not been fulfilled, how can you die?

I once met a young man who wanted to commit suicide because he was frustrated in love, sad and sad. I went to see him at that time and asked him to calm down. I also read him a short poem that was published in the supplement of "JoongAng Ilbo":

There are thousands of stars in the sky,

< p> There are more people on the ground than stars;

Silly people!

Why commit suicide just for her?

There are so many people in the world, aren’t they all worthy of your love? Why bother and commit suicide just to love her? Isn’t the value of such a life too limited?

Therefore, although "ten things in life are unsatisfactory", life will inevitably have good times and bad times, and the mood will inevitably have ups and downs; once you find that your mood has fallen into a low ebb, you must know how to find good friends and good friends. Talking with friends, or reading books or listening to lectures by yourself can help relieve stress and change your mood.

In the past, I had a five-minute "Xingyun French" program on "China Television" every day. During the broadcast, the audience responded very enthusiastically. Someone once wanted to commit suicide because he was inspired by "French". Have the belief to work harder. A second-year junior high school student who lives in Kaohsiung once wrote to me. He said that he accidentally made bad friends and became a bad student. Some of his good classmates stopped talking to him because of this. Although he knew that he was wrong and wanted to change, Those bad friends don't give up. Just when he was lonely and desperate and wanted to commit suicide, he accidentally saw the "Xingyun French" published in the tenth issue of "Awakening the World", which greatly encouraged him. He thought that he was still young and still had a lot of things to do, so he couldn't end it so easily, so he decided to start a new life from scratch with joy.

There is also such a story. There was an unemployed young man who was wandering in front of the Taipei Railway Station, staring at the busy bustling scenery in a daze. He wanted to find a rich man's car to hit him and commit suicide so that his poor old mother could get a pension to live. Just when he was desperate, a noble and beautiful lady passed by him and nodded to him with a smile. When the young man was so happy, he forgot to seek death. The next day, he actually got a job to support his family, and he didn't want to die. Got it!

A touching incident also happened at the Fo Guang Shan Taipei Dojo. One Saturday night, when the masters were busy preparing to practice, they suddenly received an urgent phone call. The other party said: "I want to talk to the abbot! I, I want to kill someone!"

It turns out that this gentleman runs a small business. Not long ago, his brother-in-law dumped his money, causing financial problems. Seeing that the end of the month was coming, dozens of employees in the company were waiting for his salary. They were really angry and anxious. I just wanted to kill my brother-in-law to vent my hatred.

The abbot, Master Cirong, told him: "If you kill him, you will have to go to jail yourself. It still doesn't solve the problem!"

"Then I will have no choice but to commit suicide!"

"After committing suicide, what will happen to the family relationships at home? Do you want them to take on debts for you?"

"Then what should I do? What should I do?" The other party's voice was hoarse, it must have been... Shedding tears.

Master Cirong left the address of the Taipei dojo and invited him to come and talk.

About half an hour later, he arrived at the Taipei Dojo as scheduled. Master Cirong comforted him: "It is inevitable that life will have ups and downs. If you fall, as long as you are willing to stand up, there is hope. Moreover, people live not only for themselves, but also for the sake of those who love and protect them. Murder and suicide , But it hurts those who are close to him, but his enemies are happy."

Seeing that his mood gradually stabilized, he looked at the clock on the wall and it was already ten o'clock. Master Cirong said, "You should go home quickly. ! It’s so late, my wife must be very anxious to wait!”

“Alas!” He sighed, and then said: “My wife is very wise, but when I saw her when I came home, I thought Her brother is even more sad!"

Master Cirong continued to persuade him patiently. After some serious talk, the man actually asked the abbot to take him into the monkhood. Master Cirong asked him to fill out a form on the grounds that a monk must know his family situation, and then secretly called his wife based on the information written on it.

"Mrs. Wang! Please sit down." When the middle-aged man heard this, he turned around in surprise and saw his wife walking in the door under the guidance of Master Zhike, with a sad look on her face. He couldn't help but get up and walk forward, hugging his wife and crying.

Three months later, Mr. Wang and his wife came to Taipei Dojo again to visit Master Cirong. Mr. Wang said happily: "Thank you for saving my life and saving my family."

How to escape the shadow of suicide? How to live out the hope of life? In fact, external help alone is limited; even some people entrust their future to the blessing of gods, which is not enough. The most important thing for people is to rely on themselves. Of course, a country's social welfare is perfect, such as a sound medical system, developed road transportation, drinking water for people's livelihood, highway street lights and other equipment. The fullness of the society can certainly reduce some of the people's lives. Unsatisfactory. But even though external friends, family, country, and society provide us with help, we must be able to accept it ourselves.

Sometimes the well-intentioned help of others may not always be accepted by the person concerned. Some people are not only suspicious, but even regard other people's good intentions as malicious intentions. This kind of person always thinks of the worst in everything, and no one else can do anything to help them, no matter how intent they are.

I once said that after some people hear something they don’t like, no matter how many good words others say to explain or persuade them, they cannot listen to a word and they only believe a bad word. , If you don’t believe a hundred good words, you are actually asking for trouble. Therefore, if you want to eliminate the problem of suicide, you must rely on your own wisdom and understanding. Think about it, why should I be fooled by someone else's words, things, or looks, and worry about them?

In addition, I think everyone should cultivate various interests in daily life, such as reading and writing, growing flowers and plants, traveling and outings, participating in clubs, etc. Participate in more intellectual activities and activities that are helpful to the body and mind, and you will not be autistic; if a person is too autistic, he will become increasingly unable to think about things. Today's society is open and vast. Everyone has to go out and join the public, the circle of friends, the scholarly schools, the activities of the clubs, and the ranks of volunteers. Of course, it is good to follow all kinds of legitimate religious beliefs. In short, you should have many channels to adjust your life and relieve stress. In particular, you should make more kind and helpful friends. You should socialize more often. Occasionally, you can meet up to drink tea and talk. Sometimes someone else's words can wake up your dreams. The middle-aged person may also receive great benefits.

Life is inherently bitter. Human suffering is sometimes caused by desires that are too high and not being able to get what you want. Sometimes love and anger are too strong and clear, and those who want to love cannot be loved, but enemies often get together to stay together. Naturally, It will feel very painful. Even the suffering of old age and physical decline, the suffering of illness, and even the suffering of death, etc. Sometimes when you see others suffering, you will suffer too. In addition, there are the sufferings given to us by nature, the sufferings given to us by society, and even economic, family, and interpersonal sufferings. All kinds of sufferings are pushed in from all directions. It is really unspeakable.

However, we can turn suffering into happiness, just like a house that is originally dark, we can turn darkness into light as long as we light a lamp. It is important to understand a "turn" in life, turn bad into good, turn evil into good. If you know how to turn around and take a step back to think, the sea and sky will be vast; if you know how to look back, the half of the world behind you will be even more vast.

Someone once asked: We hold rosary beads to recite Buddha's name, and Guanshiyin Bodhisattva also holds rosary beads. What does he recite? "Recite Avalokitesvara". Why should I miss myself? Because "it is better to seek for others than to seek for yourself." Therefore, Buddhism talks about "self-reliance and Dharma-reliance", taking refuge in oneself, believing in oneself, and affirming oneself. If everyone in the society can exert their own strength, not only to be independent, but also to help others, then the society will be powerful and will be better; if everyone hopes that the country will protect me, the society will help me, my parents will raise me, and my teachers will be better. If you teach me and my friends are kind to me, then what am I doing in this world? Therefore, if people want to survive in the world, they must rely on their own strength. It is most important to strengthen themselves and give full play to themselves. Who can we rely on to save us? Who can help us? You are never as reliable as yourself.

Many years ago, the famous writer San Mao suddenly committed suicide due to world-weariness, causing the entire society to be concerned about why celebrities commit suicide. This often happens to successful people. When faced with setbacks that they cannot bear, they will think of death to escape. In fact, the only way to distract yourself from death is to divert attention from death, and the situation will not be so bad. If a person is not afraid of death, what other terrible things are there in the world? Instead of ruining your life by dying, use it for something more meaningful. Therefore, how to counsel those who have suicidal tendencies or have committed suicide in the future, just like the rehabilitation and protection of prisoners, requires the public's concern.

Q: Although most people who have suicidal thoughts commit suicide because they live an unhappy life, some people believe that they can reunite with their loved ones after death, or end their lives early because of their beliefs. . May I ask, Master, what is Buddhism’s view on suicidal psychology, or even the act of committing suicide because of belief?

Answer: Suicide is a manifestation of ignorance of the meaning of life. Some people think that committing suicide is a brave man who is not afraid of death. In fact, it is a stupid behavior that is driven to a dead end by suffering and has exceeded the fear of death. He thinks that death can solve the pain of life. This kind of person doesn't even have the courage to live. How can we say that he is not afraid of death?

When it comes to life and death, in fact, most people still "would rather live in this world than be buried in the ground." However, there are also many people who are under too much pressure in life, career, homework, relationships, etc., or due to deviations in beliefs, or even Suffering from anger and grievance, he couldn't bear it for a while and committed suicide. Regardless of the reasons for suicide, it can be summed up as follows: first, not understanding the meaning of life; second, not having the courage to solve problems and running away from trouble; third, not understanding the causal relationship between one's own life and others; fourth, , I don’t know that suicide and murder are the same sins.

In short, people who have suicidal thoughts must be selfish, incompetent, powerless, and ignorant. They do not know how to create joy, do not know how to create a harmonious life with human beings, and lack the understanding of life. understanding. The meaning of life is endless, this is called life.

The person who commits suicide does not see "life" and only thinks of "death", so when he lives, his thoughts are only selfish, gray, and dim; he cannot see the light or beauty, so the shadow of death envelopes him, and death The devil's hand has control over him, so when he is slightly distracted or weak-willed, the rope of death will bind him and restrain him.

The idea of ??suicide is actually lingering in our subconscious all the time. When we encounter the most vulnerable moment of life, it is easy to turn into action and become a reality. Kawabata Yasunari, the first famous Japanese writer to win the "Nobel Prize for Literature", lost his parents to illness when he was two or three years old. A few years later, his grandmother, sister, and grandfather passed away one after another. The fear caused by this experience of death became his main focus. After a lifetime of shadowing, one day three years after winning the Nobel Prize for Literature, he committed suicide with a gas pipe in his apartment, realizing what he said: "A silent death is an infinite life." The famous Japanese writer Akutagawa Ryunosuke At the age of thirty-five, he committed suicide by taking drugs because he felt that "life is worse than hell"; another well-known Japanese painter Koga Harunoe felt that "there is no higher life than death." art", so he decided to commit suicide. Although their philosophies on death are different, they all choose to commit suicide to end their brilliant lives.

"Suicide" means "killing yourself". Modern people not only commit suicide in endless ways, such as taking poison, jumping off buildings, hanging from beams, drowning in rivers, cutting wrists, cutting necks, burning charcoal, etc.; there are also many words to describe suicide, such as "suicide", "suicide", "self-determination", "suicide", "suicide", "suicide", "self-destruction" or "self-commitment" etc. There are even countless thoughts and motivations for committing suicide. I remember seeing a piece of news in the newspaper about a man who had a dog. They got along with each other and fell in love with each other over time. Old dogs are bound to die. The dog owner suddenly felt lifeless. He committed suicide a few days later and followed the old dog to death.

In history, Prince Dan of Yan and Tian Guang conspired to assassinate the King of Qin, and Tian Guang recommended Jing Ke. The prince said: "This matter is related to the survival of the Yan country. Please keep it secret." Tian Guang: "Yes!" He committed suicide immediately after returning home, using suicide to show that he would not leak the secret.

When Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty abolished Buddhism, one of the "Three Martial Arts and One Sect" of Buddhism, all the Buddhist scriptures and images were burned. At that time, Master Jingai used "retribution for destroying religion" to remonstrate with Emperor Wu, but he did not After being accepted, he later fled to Zhongnan Mountain. Feeling guilty that he had not contributed to Buddhism, he sat down on a stone and cut his own flesh to death.

Wen Tianxiang of the Song Dynasty led an army to resist the Yuan Dynasty, but failed and was captured. The Yuan army commander Zhang Hongfan and his general Li Heng entertained them with wine every day and tried every possible means to persuade him to surrender. However, Wen Tianxiang believed that death was not serious and that he had lost his reputation and integrity. It was serious, so he wrote the popular poem "Crossing the Lingding Ocean", which is the most popular poem of all time: "Once the hardships are encountered, the stars fall all around in the fight. The mountains and rivers are broken, the wind flutters, and the life experience is ups and downs. The rain hits the ground. I am afraid of the beach, and I sigh in the Lingding Ocean. Alone. Since ancient times, no one has died, leaving his loyalty to illuminate history." Then he died calmly.

As the saying goes: "Some death is heavier than Mount Tai, and some is lighter than a feather." Among people in the world, some people in order to fulfill their famous festivals, they regard their famous festivals as more important than life and death; A loyal and loyal person would rather sacrifice his life. Therefore, the significance of killing one's life for charity and sacrificing one's life for righteousness cannot be compared with the general act of suicide. Even sacrificing for religion, dying for beliefs, that is his life, a more transcendent life.

During the Buddha's lifetime, there were occasional suicides or plans to commit suicide among the Buddha's disciples. For example, after seven years of spiritual practice, Bhikshuni Shizi still failed to cure her greed. She was ashamed and angry at her own stupidity, so she thought of committing suicide. However, she suddenly became enlightened when she was wrapped in the forest. After twenty-five years of practice, the bhikkhu Sabodasa still had no peace, so he decided to commit suicide. However, when he pulled out the razor, he suddenly became enlightened. Bhikkhu Bhagali also decided to commit suicide because of this and wanted to jump off the cliff to take his own life. Just when he was about to reach the end, he suddenly became enlightened.

According to Volume 39 of the "Za Agama Sutra", Bhikkhu Qudaka once attained enlightenment six times, but regressed in the sixth degree. After being enlightened in the seventh degree, he was afraid of the seventh degree Turning around, I want to go into destruction. After Qudaka attained his seventh level of enlightenment, he entered a state beyond life and death. There was no longer any delusion in his mind, and the Buddha allowed him to achieve nirvana on his own. Even when the Buddha was practicing in his past life, he had "fed a tiger with his own body." Venerable Ananda entered Nirvana when he was 120 years old because he no longer wanted to listen to the evil words of the world. As well as some enlightened monks in Buddhism, they The magical powers of predicting the coming of time, being able to control life and death freely, sitting up and down, and being able to face life and death with ease and ease are not the same as ordinary suicides caused by escaping responsibilities, or collective suicides caused by wrong beliefs.

Speaking of faith, in recent years there have been reports from time to time around the world that some believers committed mass suicide because of their belief in cults, which led to ideological deviations. For example, in 1978, Jim Jones, a paranoid pastor in the United States, led 914 followers to commit mass suicide in Jonestown, Guyana. This was the largest mass suicide in history. The largest number of people ever.

In 1991, a Mexican government minister named Almazan became obsessed with his belief in God and led 29 followers to collectively set themselves on fire in a church; in 1994, 1995 and In 1997, the Temple of the Sun caused three mass suicides in North America and Europe, resulting in the deaths of more than a hundred people; in 1995, fifty-three Vietnamese villagers were led by a blind man who believed in the cult. They shot themselves with crude weapons; in 1997, thirty-nine members of the "Tianmen Sect" believed that UFOs would take them to heaven, so they collectively drank poison and died. This shows how harmful cults can be to people.

In fact, in Buddhism, according to Volume 10 of "Chengshi Lun", there are three types of evil: "evil", "great evil", and "evil among evils". Among them, committing suicide and teaching others to kill are Great evil. The Brahma Net Sutra also says that all living things are my father and my mother, so killing a living being means killing your father or mother. To this extent, committing suicide is no different than killing one's father or mother. Another example is stated in the Great Wisdom Treatise: No matter how diligently you cultivate merit, if you fail to observe the precept not to kill, it will lose its meaning.

Therefore, generally speaking, Buddhism attaches great importance to life and therefore opposes any practice that harms life. It advocates that the light and heat of life should be used during one's lifetime to expand the scope of life by dedicating oneself and serving the public. Value and meaning, the hope and future of continuing life, this is the proper way of faith, and this is the correct attitude we should have when facing life.

Q: People who decide to commit suicide have the same mentality, that is, they want to die to get rid of everything. I would like to ask Master, is it really possible for a person to be finished after death?

Answer: "A person is dead once and for all." This wrong view of life generally exists in the hearts of ordinary people. Therefore, it is common for people to passively want to commit suicide when they encounter difficulties or setbacks that cannot be resolved. , hoping to die to get rid of everything.

In fact, when people are reincarnated into the world, they all bring karma with them; the good and bad situations, good and bad situations they experience in this life are all the result of their actions in the past and present lives, and they should bear it directly in order to follow the fate. Eliminate karma. If you encounter difficulties or hardships, you will commit suicide to escape. Not only will it not eliminate your karma, but it will also create more bad karma. If the old karma is not eliminated and new karma is created, how can you be liberated in life? How can we solve it all at once?

Therefore, suicide does not solve the problem! Suicide only adds to the problem and may even increase the pain. For example, if I commit suicide, it will immediately bring immense pain to my family, friends, relatives, classmates, and even people who know me. Sometimes it will also impose some unfinished responsibilities on them and increase their burden. Besides, the country has cultivated me and the public has made me successful. Just when I could serve the society, I committed suicide for some reason. This is a waste of social costs. Therefore, one person's suicide not only causes losses to society, but also drags down many people. It is really embarrassing to let down many people who care about me and love me.

Furthermore, suicide will also leave many sequelae. For example, if an elder in a family dies due to suicide, even after a few generations, the descendants will feel it is dishonorable. Not only will it leave an indelible shadow in their hearts, but they will sometimes follow suit. Therefore, I feel that sometimes homicides occur in society, and being killed is considered a last resort, while suicide is an unforgivable act. There is no way to resist dying due to external forces, but suicide means ending one's own life. This is ignorance, which is caused by being unable to think about things for a while. Because one's own ignorance cannot think about things, it has caused losses to the family and society, so basically Suicide is something that deserves no sympathy and is regrettable.

In particular, the mood of the person who committed suicide must be a kind of spiritual trauma, and he died in pain, sadness, helplessness, despair, anxiety, and even anger, hatred, and regret. , just based on this thought at the moment, you will definitely fall into hell, evil ghosts, and animals after death. This is the "path of karma" discussed in "Kusashastra".

The so-called "path of karma" refers to the three karma of greed, anger and ignorance. Greed leads to anger, anger leads to delusion, and ignorance leads to greed; the former can become the path of the latter, or can lead to each other. The tossing and turning becomes the path, thus becoming the path of the six paths of reincarnation. In other words, the karma we create will naturally produce a force that leads to results; the karma itself is like a road, with good karma leading to good places, and with bad karma leading to evil places. Therefore, if we do not have the idea of ??suicide, there will be no suicidal behavior and consequences.
