Blue Star Island, formerly known as Nanxingzhou, was a silted-up Jiangzhou in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River more than 200 years ago. At the end of 1980s, due to the need of flood control, all immigrants are now making protective use of it. Blue Star Island is about 30 kilometers away from Jingzhou City. After the Yangtze River flows through here, it becomes the Jingjiang section of Jiuqu 18 Bay, and the flow rate slows down, forming this island over time.
