The Historical Evolution of Georgia

Georgia was inhabited by Indians in the early days and was first discovered by the Spanish. 1733 British immigrants settled here. It was originally a British colony in North America, named after King George II of England.

1788 Georgia ratified the federal constitution, becoming the fourth state to join the United States of America.

186 1 At the beginning of the year, it left the Union and became one of the original members of the Confederacy, which was the main battlefield of the American Civil War.

1870 rejoined the Federation.
