At the forum, experts agreed that hydropower is the only clean and renewable energy that can be developed and utilized on a large scale at present, which has flexible peak-shaving performance and has been highly valued by countries all over the world. The next decade will still be a period of rapid development of hydropower in China. Shao Bingren, deputy director of the National People's Congress Population, Resources and Environment Committee, said that hydropower development is of great strategic significance for ensuring China's future energy security, coping with climate change and optimizing the energy structure.

According to Hu Siyi, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Water Resources, there are many rivers in China, and the hydropower reserves rank first in the world. Tens of thousands of hydropower stations have been built, with an installed capacity of 65.438+0.7 billion kilowatts, an annual power generation of more than 560 billion kWh, and the scale under construction is about 70 million kilowatts, ranking first in the world. Hydropower has accounted for 2 1.6% of the total installed capacity in China.

Wan Bentai, chief engineer of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, believes that in the past, the main factor restricting hydropower construction was investment; In the future, environment and migration will become the bottleneck restricting hydropower construction. Over the past 20 years, China's hydropower construction has made some achievements and experience in environmental protection, but there are still many problems to be solved urgently. The degree of hydropower development in China is low, and that in the United States is over 70%, while that in China is only 3 1.5%. On the basis of protecting the ecological environment, hydropower resources should be developed in a timely, moderate and orderly manner.

Experts attending the meeting believe that there are some problems to be solved urgently in hydropower development at present, which mainly include: hydropower development is not fully integrated with local economic development and local residents' interests; The problem of reservoir resettlement is still outstanding; The protection of ecological environment needs to be strengthened; Hydropower is homogeneous with different prices, and the electricity price is low. Experts also reminded that hydropower development should follow the principle of scientific planning and orderly development, prevent rushing headlong into action on the grounds of expanding domestic demand, and promote the sustainable development of hydropower.
