United Arab Emirates travel ban on Thailand and Iran

Thailand. On February 25th, 2008, according to Thai media reports, due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the UAE authorities issued an announcement requesting its citizens to suspend their travel to Thailand and Iran from February 24th, local time. It is reported that this announcement is only for UAE citizens. Foreign citizens, including Thais, can still leave the UAE normally, and Thai citizens can also enter the UAE normally.

In addition, according to the news of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Kuwait announced on February 25th local time that the authorities would not issue visas to people going to Thailand, South Korea and Italy for the time being. People living in Kuwait (immigrants) and those who entered the above three countries in the past 14 days and have obtained Kuwaiti visas will be refused entry by the Kuwaiti authorities, even if their visas have not expired.

If Kuwaiti citizens come from Thailand, South Korea and Italy, they will be sent to designated places for isolation when entering Kuwait. Prior to the announcement, the Kuwaiti authorities suspended flights to and from these three countries.

On February 24th, local time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates issued a statement saying that in view of the current novel coronavirus epidemic, it issued a travel ban on Iran and Thailand.

The statement said that the UAE made this decision based on its current epidemic prevention and control and public health safety considerations, and called on its citizens and local residents not to travel to Iran and Thailand in the near future.

Earlier, the United Arab Emirates confirmed two cases of novel coronavirus. The patient is an Iranian couple. On February 19, COVID-19 infection was first announced in Iran. In just 6 days, the number of confirmed cases has reached 6 1 and the number of deaths 12.
