Introduction to Sanjiao Town

Sanjiao Town is located on the east bank of the Yellow River 37 kilometers southwest of Liulin County, facing the Yellow River to the west and across the river from Shaanxi. It covers an area of ??2.1 square kilometers and has a population of more than 1,300 people. It is composed of three natural villages: Xiasanjiao, Qianjie and Shapingze. Because it is located between Zhongyang, Shilou and Qingjian counties in Shaanxi, it is named Sanjiao. The town has 43 natural villages, 18 administrative villages, 5,321 households, 20,947 people, and a land area of ??115 square kilometers, including 24,466 acres of cultivated land, 20,175 acres of high-quality red jujube forest, and 10,600 acres of converted farmland to forest. Red dates have large cores, small flesh, thick flesh and sweet taste. They are one of the main red dates producing areas in Liulin County. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Sanjiao was already a major commercial town in Zhongyang (Ningxiang) County. In the first year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1875), the Yellow River flooded. The water rose for three days and three nights, sweeping away a spacious and prosperous main street with paved houses. More than 300 acres of flat land became a river bed, and the market trade moved to the mountainside.
