Recently, Japan has begun trying to apply for a passport by mail. This is mainly to reduce the risk of infection. If you want to apply for a passport, you can refer to the following methods. The required documents must be complete, otherwise you may not be able to apply.
Processing Guide
In order to ease the difficulties in applying for passports for Japanese citizens in China and reduce the risk of epidemic infection, our consulate will continue to implement window services and increase passport mailing starting from February 16, 2021 Serve. Applicants can make an appointment at the window or by mail. Chinese citizens over 16 years old who live in the consular areas of our embassy (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Tama, Nagano, Yamanashi, Shizuoka, Gunma, Tochigi, and Ibaraki) can choose to apply for a passport by mail (if the original passport is lost or damaged, It cannot be processed by mail, and the postage and other costs are borne by yourself. Our library does not charge any passport fees. The passport applied for by mail does not contain the applicant’s fingerprint information and cannot be cleared through customs by hand at the border inspection.

(1 Make an appointment online. . Please log in to the Overseas Passport Online Appointment System (, fill in personal information online, upload photos, enter the "visa-free" appointment interface, make an appointment for the processing time, download and print the "Passport/Travel Certificate Application Form", "Mail Application Form", etc. with barcodes. Attachment to the form and sign in block letters at the applicant's signature place
(2 Preparation materials
1. Please prepare the required materials according to the list of materials listed in the "Mail Certificate Application Form". Materials. Please use A4 paper to copy.
2. Please sign on the "Signature Collection Form" as required;
Please note: the signature here will be scanned and printed on the new passport. When applying for immigration and foreign visas in the future, it may be compared with my actual signature. Please make sure that my signature is in block letters and simplified Chinese. Any problems caused by the signature are your responsibility.
3. Please be careful. Read the "Informed Consent Form for Not Collecting Fingerprints" and sign it;
4. Please read the "Declaration of Nationality Status" carefully and sign it;
5. (Three mailing materials
Applicants are requested to mail them through the Japan Post window at the scheduled time. The mailing costs are borne by the applicant. Each application must be mailed separately. Please Don't choose the mailing method on your own because of the security and return of documents. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Go to the Japan Post window to buy two A4 envelopes and get a "voucher exchange" mailing list for one envelope. When you mail the application materials to our library, another envelope will be used as a return envelope. Our library will use this envelope to send you your new passport, canceled old passport and payment receipt.
2. When mailing application materials to our embassy, ??fill in the postal code "141-8772" in the upper right corner of the envelope, fill in "Tokyo Tokyo Otsuka Post Office" on the right side of the envelope, and fill in "Consular Department of the Chinese Embassy" in the middle of the envelope. 3. Please fill in your name, address and phone number as the recipient of the [Voucher Redemption] mailing list (as shown in Figure 4 . If the recipient is not the applicant, please indicate the applicant's name.
4. All materials are packaged and mailed. Please check the list of materials listed in the "Application for Mailing Certificate" item by item and confirm that all listed materials are ready.
