A trip to Chengdu —— A trip to the ancient town of Luodai

Luodai ancient town, a well-preserved Hakka town in the suburbs of Chengdu, is located in Longquanyi District, Chengdu, 0/8 km away from Chengdu/KLOC.

Generally, foreign tourists who come to Chengdu rarely go, and travel agencies will not recommend this route. I chose to walk because I read an article written by a literary friend in Chengdu. I don't know whether the writing itself attracts me or because of its profound cultural background. That afternoon, our group went for a stroll and felt the face of the ancient town written by Wenyou.

Because there are no bustling tourists pouring in, and it is not a weekend, the town looks very quiet and calm, which is what the ancient town should look like. Nowadays, many famous ancient towns are so crowded and noisy that people seem to have forgotten their original appearance. What a sad thing to go sightseeing in a hurry.

Luodai Ancient Town, commonly known as Hairpin Yard, is said to be an organizational street in the Han Dynasty. It is said that the jade belt of Liu Chan, the ruler in the last years of Shu-Han Dynasty, got its name because it fell into the octagonal well near the town. Luodai ancient town is a place where Hakka people live in Chengdu. The people who live here today are all Hakkas who migrated from eastern Fujian in the great immigration tide of "Huguang filling Sichuan" before the Qing Dynasty.

In the ancient town, the Hakka-style building-Hakka Guild Hall is still preserved. The existing guild halls are: Guangdong Guild Hall, North Sichuan Guild Hall, Huguang Guild Hall and Jiangxi Guild Hall. Among them, Guangdong Guild Hall is the largest and can best represent the architectural features of the Guild Hall. Hakka people who settled in Sichuan take the guild hall as the center, which is an important center for Hakka people to gather for discussion and worship their ancestors, and also a settlement for immigrants.

What impressed me the most was the tulou in the blog town. Tulou is the carrier and epitome of Hakka culture in western Fujian. The earth building in Luodai ancient town is more than 8000 square meters, with a diameter of 52 meters and four floors, which is very imposing. Tulou, with Hakka Museum as its core, has many theme museums, such as intangible cultural heritage exhibition center, Sichuan ancient ceramics and religious paintings theme exhibition hall, modern handicraft exhibition hall and so on.

Approaching the Hakka earth building in Luodai, we can not only appreciate the thrilling visual impact, but also feel the diverse residential characteristics. This dignified and heavy roundness contains its own cultural interest and aesthetic value, which is unique and wonderful in the ancient town. Like a flying saucer falling from the sky, it has become a wonderful flower of world architecture.

Tired of walking, I sat down in a small shop, had a cup of tea and a bowl of Ciba ice powder. Ciba ice powder is a unique snack in Chengdu. Brown sugar water is mixed with Ciba, sesame, watermelon, red dates, red beans, jelly and ice cubes. It is cool and refreshing when eaten, which is very suitable for summer afternoon.

Not far from the ancient town, there is also a Jinlong Great Wall. It is a replica of the Great Wall built in 1990s, with a length of 1680m and five beacon towers. After all, the regiment didn't climb the Great Wall.

Luodai, I have been there. Come gently and walk quietly, leaving no footprints.
