How long does it take NVC to check the background of American visa?

When the Immigration Bureau approves the immigration application, if the beneficiary is overseas, the Immigration Bureau will transfer all the files of the beneficiary to NVC. After the file is transferred to NVC, it will be saved according to its application category and schedule.

NVC has been shelved for months to years. If the beneficiary belongs to a category that does not need to be scheduled (such as a citizen applying for a spouse, parents or minor children) or the beneficiary is scheduled soon, NVC will send relevant materials to the applicant or the applicant's attorney.

Generally speaking, NVC processing procedures are as follows:

1. Send the bill of the background investigation fee and the beneficiary's designated agent form (DS-3032) to the applicant or his lawyer.

2. After the background investigation fee is paid, the economic guarantee and relevant explanatory materials will be sent to Shen Airen or his attorney.

3. After receiving the designated agent form (DS-3032) signed by the beneficiary, NVC will send the bill of immigrant visa application fee (USD 404 per person) to the agent designated by the beneficiary.

4. After the immigrant visa fee is paid, the immigrant applicant fills in the background forms (DS-230 Part I and Part II) and submits relevant explanatory materials to NVC.

5. After the financial guarantee and the first part of the DS-230 form are verified by NVC, the documents will be transferred to the consulate in the beneficiary's area (all immigration applications from China will be transferred to the US consulate in Guangzhou).
