Where is the ancient Xiangyang now?

The ancient Xiangyang is now the northwest of Hubei Province.

The earliest cultural relics in Xiangyang are mainly concentrated in the north bank of Hanshui River, including the paleolithic sites such as Junyingpo, Gongjiazhou, Jinjizui and Shanwan. The method of making utensils mostly adopts direct single-sided attack, and the production characteristics are similar to those used by Lantian people in Shaanxi and Dingcun people in Shanxi.

At least in the Neolithic Age around 10000 years ago, Xiangyang ancestors began to try grinding stone tools, making tools, fishing and hunting, and slash and burn. According to the survey, there are more than 80 Neolithic cultural sites in Xiangyang/kloc-0, which are basically densely distributed along the banks of Hanshui River and its tributaries. Especially in the middle and late Neolithic period, relatively concentrated large-scale settlement groups gradually formed in the southwest of Nanxiang Basin on the north bank of the middle reaches of Hanshui River, Xiangyi Plain on the west bank and Suizao Corridor on the east bank, and a small number of settlements were also distributed on the hillside of western Hubei.
