The Historical Evolution of Lianyungang Foreign Language School

Lianyungang Foreign Language School, formerly known as Zhannan Middle School in Lianyungang, was founded in 1978. It passes through Lianyungang No.8 Middle School, Lianyungang Institute of Education, the middle school affiliated to Lianyungang Institute of Education and the middle school affiliated to Lianyungang Normal University. In 2000, after investigation and with the consent of Lianyungang Municipal Government, the Party Committee of Lianyungang Education Bureau decided to establish a foreign language school based on the middle school affiliated to Lianyungang Education College, which will start in September.

In March 2000, the preparatory group of Lianyungang Foreign Language School went to Beijing to study and inspect six foreign language schools, including the Middle School Attached to Peking University and Beijing Foreign Language School.

In May, 2000, Lianyungang Foreign Language School entered the enrollment plan of Lianyungang senior high school entrance examination. By the end of June, the number of applicants had reached more than 600.

In 2002, due to the change of education policy, the change of school leaders' thinking and the relocation of school sites, the number of freshmen shrank to seven classes.

In 2003, Lianyungang Foreign Language School moved back to its original site and enrolled five classes that year.

In 2003, Lianyungang Foreign Languages School cooperated with the International Exchange Center of Beijing Foreign Studies University to introduce "UEI English Course" from the Australian International Curriculum Management Center.

In September 2005, the school opened a small language class and began a foreign language education with English teaching as the mainstay and multilingual teaching coexisting; In July, 2007, the students of the minority language class of our school went to Korea for an exchange.

June, 5438+October, 2007 10, Lianyungang Foreign Languages School merged with the middle school affiliated to Lianyungang Teachers College, becoming the largest middle school in Lianyungang. There are more than 5000 teachers and students in the school.

In 2009, the school demolished the D-class dangerous building 10 built in the 1980s, with an area of 10.07 million square meters. Construction of the new teaching building started in May of 20 1 1 year, and the new teaching building was officially put into use before the summer vacation of 20 12.

20 15 Lianyungang foreign language school was successfully promoted to a three-star ordinary high school in Jiangsu province. The new foreign language school campus, covering an area of 140 mu and a building area of 52,000 square meters, was opened in Xinhai New District.
