After scraping, we all shed tears. But I want to know why I don't like this movie. Later, when I watched Love Letters from the Kingdom of Heaven, I also shed tears. I understand that it may be difficult for movies to make people cry, but it is even harder for people to say yes. In my opinion, "Love Letter from Heaven" is a film that promotes not to discriminate against leprosy patients. The director made a good film with good intentions, but the film can be said to be poor. These words have nothing to do with scraping, they are just casual remarks, so they are put in brackets.

In fact, looking back, the part that makes people cry is still the most wonderful part of the whole movie, although it is not good. Yes, I mean this movie is not good. This is my evaluation.

First, poor place.

Let's start with the worst part. Zheng Xiaolong's Guangzhou premiere was asked by a reporter, "It is suspected that China movies are made in English." He was angry. I understand him very well. My overall feeling is not flattery, but a little China saying "no" in it. Journalists really don't know how to watch movies. At the beginning of Scraping, Xu Datong (Tony Leung Ka Fai) stood on the podium and said excitedly "My American Dream". I know this is a film that criticizes the American dream. If there is any doubt, I suspect that the director is a bit "exclusive". Of course, Zheng Xiaolong said that he wanted to film how difficult it is to communicate between the East and the West. But it's a little difficult for him to express himself.

The director used many plots to prove how difficult it is to communicate between the East and the West, just like collecting evidence:

Example 1: The child is fighting with the boss's son. Xu Datong wants the boy to apologize to the boss's son. When the child refused to do so, Xu gave him a spank. Bosses think spanking is not allowed in America, even their parents. However, Xu thinks that "disciplining children is a matter of course, and it is to give you face", which makes the boss shout "What is this messy China logic".

Example 2: the Monkey King is a hero in China mythology, but an American lawyer says that this monkey has no moral values at all. "Others planted peaches for nine thousand years, but he picked them and ate them without saying hello to his master. When people stopped him, he not only refused to listen to dissuasion, but also smashed his peach blossom garden. " He ate pills painstakingly refined by others, and even killed his master-such a savage and stubborn monkey was shaped into a hero by Xu Datong in the video game. "

Ex. 3: When his wife Jane gave birth, the situation was very dangerous. The hospital asked Xu Datong to choose whether to protect adults or children. Xu Datong asked to protect his wife, because "staying in the castle peak is not afraid of running out of firewood". The nurse who delivered the baby thought this choice was "barbaric" and did not respect the child's right to life.

Example 4: Grandpa treated his grandson with scraping therapy, which has been circulating in China for more than two thousand years. However, Americans believe that his father abused his children, and his son was placed in the custody of children's welfare homes, so the father and son could not meet each other.

With so much evidence, it seems that we can judge immediately: "The cultural exchange between the East and the West is extremely difficult." However, before sentencing, I still want to verify the validity of the evidence. The first example, I think if Xu Datong agrees with the civilized world, he should have realized the truth of "don't hit children". Regarding the problem of beating children for face, I don't know if it's a China specialty. If it is, it's also a disgusting specialty. It seems that Lu Xun said a long time ago, don't hit children. There are many scandals of beating children in China, but this only shows the distance between us and civilization, not between us and the West. Therefore, this example is the communication difficulty between civilization and uncivilized, not the communication difficulty between East and West, and it is not valid.

In the second and third examples, the film itself has proved that these two evidences are invalid. The lawyer said, purely to win the lawsuit, deliberately angered Xu Datong. Even he knows it's a deliberate misinterpretation. Xu Datong may think that there is a communication problem, but we will not; The nurse's statement is also easily refuted by the lawyer who is also an American (the lawyer invited by Xu Datong) (if you choose a child, can it be considered as disrespect for the mother's right to life? )

Only the fourth example is the most solid, scraping, which is why this film exists. Before watching this movie, I thought the whole movie would fight for scratching. But I didn't expect this problem to be easily solved in movies. First, Mr. and Mrs. Xu Datong think that they can't communicate with America on the issue of "scraping", so they avoid talking about "scraping" in their defense and talk about their love for their children. When I was watching movies, I was always looking forward to a heated debate about "fighting dad". As a result, the problem is always avoided. Finally, the American boss found a Chinese doctor to shave himself and then showed it to the children's welfare bureau. This problem is easy to solve.

Still can't prove how difficult it is to communicate between the East and the West.

Many people in China like to talk about the topic "How difficult is the cultural exchange between the East and the West?" I really haven't found anyone to talk to. Therefore, I have always suspected that the so-called "cultural communication difficulties between the East and the West" may be a false proposition. I'm afraid the real problem that prevents two people from communicating is not that there is no East and West, but that there is no civilization (or that human nature has no humanity). The differences between the two cultures may be exaggerated intentionally or unintentionally, especially when one party is in a weak position, it is often very sensitive and even suspicious, just like Sister Lin meets Jia Baoyu, who casually says, but the former has to think carefully. Specifically, let's talk about the relationship between the two, which does not prevent Sister Lin from loving Baoyu. When it comes to family feelings and national self-esteem, the problem will be too serious to communicate. Just say "no".

The whole film has been entangled in this contradiction, trying to explore cultural differences, but unwilling to reflect on themselves, blindly immersed in the emotion of being incomprehensible. Compared with Oshima's Christmas on the Battlefield (also translated as Prisoner), the discussion on the cultural differences of scraping is very superficial, and the actual differences are only the "scraping" therapy on the technical level. As for the cultural connotation behind it, the focus of the film is not on "spelling" at all. It seems that Zhu Xu's old father can. At the end of the film, the word "scraping" was simply explained, which made me even suspect that the director's real interest was not in the "cultural differences" he repeatedly advertised. The discussion of so-called "cultural differences" is just a cover and a selling point.

Second, a good place.

I don't know if it was an unexpected result. The best part of Scraping is when the director didn't discuss any cultural differences. The whole movie seems to flow freely when the director forgets to study "cultural comparison". Xu Datong stole his son and chased him in a police car. This scene is the highlight of the film. The common car chase scene in Hollywood gangster movies was borrowed and turned into a rare game that a father contributed to his dear son. Here, the opposition turned into gentle teasing, and there was a rare harmony between the police and the "bandits". Finally, the child fell asleep in the car chase game, and the whole plot seemed warm and calm.

When Xu Datong forgot his tradition and just needed to express his love, he became lovely and reasonable. The father must prove at the hearing that the plot of his love for his son is intriguing. Love can only be felt, how to prove it? Mr. and Mrs. Xu Datong's anxiety in preparing their testimony and his later speech were really touching and worthy of praise from the screenwriter.

The most sensational nature is that Xu Datong climbed the stairs at last. This may be the best ending of the Hollywood story. Everyone is happy and the scene is touching, which makes people cry and satisfy. Of course, it is a cliche, but for a commercial film, cliche is not a disadvantage.

Third, score

Let me give scrapping three stars (out of five). I only wanted to play two stars. The director seems to discuss the problem of cultural conflict seriously, but his discussion is too wishful thinking. I added a star, because I think a new star, Ran Ran, has risen. When Zheng Xiaolong made his first film, he was fluent and sophisticated. If she keeps shooting like this, another Xiaogang Feng will thrive. Compared with Xiaogang Feng, Zheng Xiaolong is better at imitating Hollywood. He is good at grandstanding, and no longer relies on loquacious humor to create a sense of humor (loquacious humor has come to an end).

Generally speaking, my feeling is that what Guasha has done in exploring cultural differences and seeking communication between the East and the West seems to be that Ah Q regarded America as a sacred place in the dirt valley, where he dreamed of spring.
