Wangtan Town takes the opportunity of establishing a provincial-level ecological town to speed up the construction of ecological forest. At present, the forest coverage rate of this town has reached 79.6%, making it a natural oxygen bar in Shaoxing.

Wangtan Town is located in the hinterland of Huiji Mountain and the source of Xiaoshunjiang Reservoir. The town has a population of 38,000, distributed in more than 300 valleys, with a mountainous area of more than 200,000 mu. In recent years, the local government has put forestry ecological construction in an important position, and classified the woodlands on both sides of Xiaoshunjiang, Nanxi, Beixi and Shaoguan lines, which are 500 meters away from the village, as ecological public welfare forests and closed hillsides for afforestation, which are managed by villages and farmers at different levels. Without approval, it is strictly forbidden to cut down on the mountain, thus forming a beautiful pattern of roads, rivers, streams, villages, green mountains and green waters, and realizing the protection of Xiaoshunjiang, Nanxi and Qingshan.

In terms of layout, timber forests are built in immigrant villages in high mountains, distant mountains and hilltops, and economic plants such as plum, tea, silkworm, bamboo and flowers are planted around the gentle slopes of low mountains, forming a synchronous development of timber forests and economic forests. The agricultural technology department of this town has been carrying out training in planting, production and management of plums, bamboos and flowers for many years, and has established 20 demonstration bases of plums, teas, bamboos and flowers, popularized new planting and breeding techniques, and achieved good economic benefits.
