Yanhe, formerly known as Qushui, Qujinshui, Mishui, Yanshui, etc. It is a first-level tributary of the Yellow River. It is the second largest river in Yan'an City and the second largest river in northern Shaanxi. It has a total length of 286.9 kilometers. It originates from near Baiyu Mountain and flows into the Yellow River from northwest to southeast.

The Yanhe River originates from Zhoushan, Tianciwan Township, Jingbian County, flows from northwest to southeast, passes through Zhidan, Ansai, and Yan'an, and merges into the Yellow River near the cold water bank of Nanhegou in Yanchang County, with a total length of 286.9 kilometers. , the basin area is 7725 square kilometers.

Zaoyuan was once the seat of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and is located 8 kilometers northwest of Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. Zaoyuan was originally a landowner's manor. After the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China moved into Yan'an, it became the residence of the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Central Committee, so it was renamed "Yanyuan". There are still two words "Yanyuan" written by Kang Sheng on both sides of the stone pillars at the gate of the old site.

From 1944 to March 1947, the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China moved here from Yangjialing. There are also Zaoyuan Street in Zhangqiu City, Zaoyuan Town in Zhenping County and Zaoyuanju in Xinghua City.

Nanniwan is located 45 kilometers southeast of Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. It is an ideal area for the development of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery. The Nanniwan watershed covers an area of ??365 square kilometers and is a hilly and ravine area. The soil is loess soil and paddy soil, and the forest and grass coverage rate is 83%. The source of Yanhe River is located in Zhoushan, Tianciwan Town, Jingbian County. It starts from the source and flows from northwest to southeast through Chengqianhe Village to Ansai County. The border county is about 20 kilometers long, all located in the source area of ??Baiyu Mountain River. The altitude is between 1600 and 1823 meters.

The top of the beam is wide and flat, with a width of 400 to 500 meters and a length of 1000 to 3000 meters. The beams are lined with mountains and have obvious slope breaks, usually 50° to 60°. The upper reaches of the valley are mostly "V" shaped, with developed water systems, strong temporary water erosion, and serious soil erosion.

In March 1941, the 359th Brigade of the Eighth Route Army, led by brigade commander Wang Zhen, launched the famous large-scale production movement in Nanniwan. Nanniwan is the birthplace of Yan'an spirit and the birthplace of China's agricultural reclamation industry. Since the reform and opening up, Nanniwan has been better developed and constructed, especially the protection and construction of natural ecology have been strengthened. In April 1992, it was announced as the third batch of key cultural relics protection units by the Shaanxi Provincial Government.
