The Historical Origin of Xunyang Folk Songs

According to the study of the history of national folk music, a large number of existing traditional folk songs originated in the middle of Ming Dynasty. Although Xunyang was established as early as the Western Han Dynasty, it has a vast territory, sparsely populated, remote location, harsh natural conditions and underdeveloped economy. Coupled with the wars of the past dynasties, until the middle of the Ming Dynasty, it was still "political laxity, rampant bandits and thieves, full access, and depressed wells in cities and towns". As Han Zhi said, "It's hard to say that those who plow the fields to deliver food are not worried about freezing and hunger." (Qinggan solemnly revises the preface of Xunyang County). During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, residents from southern and central plains provinces migrated to Qinba Mountain area one after another, which was the basis of modern population development in Xunyang. The development of immigrants has brought about the development of production and economic prosperity, and also promoted cultural exchanges. The traditional folk songs that can be collected and circulated in the county should be produced and circulated in Xunyang after the Ming Dynasty, or in other words, the folk songs circulated in Xunyang during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. Since the founding of New China, musicians have attached great importance to the excavation, protection, collection and arrangement of folk arts. Since the mid-1950s, musicians from all provinces and districts have come to Xunyang to collect folk songs for many times, especially from the late 1970s to the mid-1980s, and the integration of national music across the country has achieved remarkable results. 198 1 August The Collection of Xunyang Folk Songs consists of seven volumes, including 868 folk songs (including folk art and operas), including 34 songs in Shaanxi Folk Songs Collection.
