From the winter of 199 1 to the summer of 1996, I made a series of investigations and studies on the society formed by "cross-border immigrant groups" and their "interactors", and investigated the significance of their problems from the perspective of urban sociology. This book is compiled from these two books on this basis. What is involved in the book is mainly the Japanese South American society centered on Hejian District of Yokohama City, but the focus of my investigation is not so much its society itself as its unique "lifestyle" as a "new immigrant", the formation of immigrant society and the significance of studying the society formed by them and their "interactors"-I call it the cross-border immigrant ethnic network in the book in urban sociology.
