Is Thailand really that dangerous?
Maybe different people have different experiences. My personal experience is quite good, not as scary as what is said on the Internet. Whenever you go abroad, no matter where you go, you need to be vigilant and pay attention to safety. Thailand is the country I have visited the most and is my favorite, bar none. So I would like to share my personal experience with the recent rumors.
1. There is no doubt that Southeast Asia is indeed a haven for crime. But Southeast Asia is not a national concept. The development levels of the countries within it are very different. Thailand is not at the same level as neighboring countries such as Myanmar and Cambodia.
There are tens of thousands of Cambodian and Burmese workers in Thailand, and its country’s overall development level is much higher than that of neighboring countries.
(Personal opinion) If we rank Southeast Asian countries, Singapore is undoubtedly the first tier, followed by Thailand and Malaysia, which can be classified as the second tier, followed closely by Vietnam. It’s hard to say about the remaining countries such as the Philippines and Myanmar.
2. Be careful about drinks and food containing ingredients, so you won’t be able to return to the country? !
First of all, there are many types, which can be roughly divided into industrial, medical and entertainment. The reason why it is classified as a drug depends on the content of THC (the main component that can cause hallucinations). Varieties with a very low THC content that is not hallucinogenic are widely used in industrial production and medical services and are not classified as drugs. .
The trace amounts of THC in Thai drinks are not hallucinogenic at all and will not cause a positive urine test! Moreover, there is a large and eye-catching pattern on the packaging, making it difficult to accidentally eat it.
3. About cheating customers
. You can feel the rip-off in Thailand when you book a hotel. The recommended hotels I looked at before going there were almost twice as expensive on a certain trip. In the end, we settled on a hotel near a friend's house. Because it was far away from the city, the price was not too expensive. The price I booked on Agoda was less than 300 RMB a night, but it still cost a lot of money to take a taxi back and forth every day.
When shopping in the market, you can also bargain with the boss. Every time you bargain, you agree readily, so you still feel that you have been cheated. Anyway, bargaining is no problem.
4. About taxi-hailing
Drivers are the ones who rip off customers the most in Thailand. Generally, Bolt and Grab are used to hail taxis. Bolt is much cheaper than Grab, but it is often difficult to hail a taxi through taxi-hailing software. . After being cheated twice, I learned that taxis and tutu cars can be cut in half. Either use Bolt or ask the taxi driver to use the meter. We met a driver who wanted to charge 200 baht for a 5-minute journey. Finally, he agreed to use the meter only after we got off the bus, and the price was only over 50 baht.
5. About food
I am a Chinese child with a strong Chinese stomach. Anyway, I think Thai food is really unattractive to me, a spicy food lover. What’s so weird about it? I ate all the weird snacks, but the only good thing was coconut ice cream. The best food I have ever eaten is Sichuan food and Chinese restaurants.
