Thoughts on Reading Polar Bear

In an article I read not long ago, the author came all the way to the North Pole just to see the polar bear with his own eyes. A few days after coming to the North Pole, he finally witnessed the graceful posture of polar bears swimming in the sea, which was extremely shocking!

So he thought of the polar bear living in Beijing Zoo. Their living environment is very different from that of the North Pole. One summer, polar bears ate a lot of watermelons and drank a lot of mung bean soup and iced fruit drinks. People make every effort to appease these relocated polar bears, but how can these polar bears kept in reinforced concrete forests be compared with polar bears swimming in the ice sea? It is said that European zoos painted concrete walls in the shape of icebergs with white paint in order to understand the suffering of polar bears' lovesickness. I wonder what polar bears think when they look at the concrete wall with peeling paint?

The melting area of Arctic ice floes caused by global warming is expanding, which will make them lose their homes and cannot survive. Some people also asked animal experts: Can polar bears migrate to the South Pole to eat penguins? The animal expert replied: They don't want to leave the North Pole.

Because there is no home, polar bears are facing a huge survival crisis, either losing the freedom to live under the protection of human beings or risking their lives to stay in the Arctic. Either way, I don't think it's the best result, and isn't it ourselves that caused all this?

Looking back, we humans have had a much greater impact on the earth in the past two hundred years than in the past thousands of years. Today, all the evil consequences we have caused, whether to other creatures or to ourselves, are unknown to us, and some of them are intentional.

If we can't solve these problems fundamentally, one day we will be homeless like polar bears. At that time, our fate will be even worse than that of polar bears, because polar bears can continue their genes under the protection of human beings. Who should we seek protection from?

How to solve it? I think every country has its own laws and policies, and experts in related fields also have their own investigation, analysis and specific suggestions. But in my opinion, since it is man-made, we should start with people.

We must be scientific and cautious about things we don't understand, if they are important decisions made by scientists in a certain field or the government; If they are ordinary people, only by strengthening publicity and improving people's literacy.

Doing it knowingly and deliberately involves moral ethics and even legal aspects. Many times it is profit-driven. For example, Thomas Midgley, an American scientist in the last century, clearly knew that lead was a highly toxic substance, but he invented leaded gasoline for his own benefit. Its influence will not be eliminated until today and in the foreseeable future. Midgley is also considered as "the person who was killed the most by a single creature in human history". The higher the IQ, the more terrible the person with lower quality. On the contrary, a person with low IQ and high quality will not do much harm to human society. Therefore, we should consider starting with education, putting moral education in the first place, planting a good seed in the hearts of the educated, carefully cultivating it, making it take root and sprout, and finally turning it into a forest. In this way, even if you are beaten by wind and rain as an adult, you will not be moved.

In any case, I hope that through our efforts, polar bears can return to their homes, and we humans will no longer live in anxiety about the deteriorating environment all day, and truly gain an inner peace!
