Ishigaki Island is surrounded by a blue gradient coral seascape, and the most famous must-see attraction is "Kawahira Bay". From sunrise in the east to sunset, the emerald-green seawater changes colors under the sunlight. This dynamic beauty makes people fall in love with it. It should be noted that although the sea here is beautiful, swimming is not possible due to the strong current. Travelers can take a glass boat to enjoy the wonders of the sea.
Hirakubozaki Observation Deck
This is the northernmost lighthouse on Ishigaki Island. All the way up to the high ground where the lighthouse is located, an almost 360° incomparable sea view suddenly appears in front of you. However, this mountain road is full of people and cars. If travelers want to take a stroll along the way to enjoy the cherry blossoms, they must Stop from time to time to avoid the busy traffic. Crossing the mountains and the sea, looking for Ishigaki Island
The Pearl River Delta is really happy. In addition to the three major airports of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the second echelon includes Zhuhai and Macau airports. There are even third-tier airports in Jieyang, Chaoshan, Huizhou, Meixian and Zhanjiang. When it comes to going abroad, Hong Kong and Macau often have good prices for flights to all parts of the world, because they are all international flights, and many airlines offer many flights, so competition is fierce.
Chinese passport holders traveling to a third country via Hong Kong and Macao, or returning to the mainland from a third country via Hong Kong and Macao, can enjoy a 7-day free transit visa. All you need is your passport and a printed ticket and itinerary, which is very convenient. Hong Kong Airport is located at Chek Kok, next to Lantau Island. It is actually a bit remote. Going from Shenzhen, if you are in Nanshan or Baoan, I highly recommend a cost-effective route.
Take the B3x from Shenzhen Bay to Tuen Mun City Center, which takes about 20 minutes. Then cross the flyover to the Tuen Mun City Center Bus Terminal and take the E33 directly to the airport, which takes about 50 minutes. The former only costs 11 Hong Kong dollars, and the latter only costs 14 Hong Kong dollars, which is equivalent to 20 yuan per ***. The route is basically the shortest path, so there will be no detours and wasted time. The total time consumption is only 1.5 hours, which is extremely cost-effective. Although there is a transfer, you only need to cross the overpass. There are departure stations on both sides, which is very convenient. In addition, taking E33, you can also pass the famous Tsing Ma Bridge, and you can also see the Ngong Ping 360 cable car on Lantau Island, as well as various sea views. I have walked this route many times and it has always worked, and I have never made any mistakes. I highly recommend it.
If you are a girl and carry a lot of luggage, this route may still be a bit inconvenient. I recommend that you take the direct bus to the airport after crossing the border at Shenzhen Bay Port. If there are many people, you can also charter a cross-border bus.
In addition, you can also take a boat from Shekou directly to the Skyline Passenger Terminal next to Hong Kong Airport without entering Hong Kong. It is very convenient. The boat ticket costs more than 300 and you can get a tax refund of 120 Hong Kong dollars. The time spent by these two methods is actually about the same as taking the bus I mentioned above, but the price is much more expensive.
If you arrive at Hong Kong Airport early in the morning, the transportation out of the airport will be very inconvenient. In this case, I recommend staying at the airport for a few hours until morning. The first bus departure is usually at 5:30 or 6:00, and the direct transit bus is usually at 7:00 or 7:30. Sitting at the airport for a few hours is not too strenuous.
If you take an early flight from Hong Kong Airport, you usually have to arrive in Hong Kong one night in advance. If you choose to stay in Hong Kong, the price of Hong Kong hotels and B&Bs + the cost of a taxi to the airport may be as high as the air ticket price. In this case, I also recommend entering Hong Kong one day in advance, arriving at the airport the night before, and staying overnight at the airport.
Hong Kong Airport has two terminals. T1 and T2 are not far away. T1 has some seats on the departure and arrival floors, but it is overcrowded. The empty seats with few people are mainly concentrated on the negative floor of T2. Unfortunately, although there are many seats there, there are only a few row seats, so lying down will not be very comfortable. After all, we are spending the night at the airport, so we can’t be too comfortable. In addition, don’t be afraid of anything. There are really many people staying overnight at Hong Kong Airport, and they come from all over the world, and they are all of good quality. If you can go through the security check earlier or come out later, there will be many good seats near the boarding gate, and there are even seats that can lie down at 120°, which is really comfortable.
I would also like to remind you that the air conditioning at Hong Kong Airport is really well-deserved and very powerful, so there is no need to worry about the heat.
I would like to add a little more about staying overnight at Guangzhou Airport. You can stay in the nearest Renhe town. There are many hotels and they are not expensive. The subway is only one stop away and it is not far away by taxi. The transportation is very convenient. In addition, there is a "capsule hotel" on the first floor of the Guangzhou Airport. In fact, the full name is the Passenger Time Lounge. The room is quite large. The 1.2-meter single bed can sleep two people. It is relatively clean and quiet. , you can rest peacefully. Air conditioning, WiFi, and bathroom are all complete, and the bed is very soft, so I had a good sleep. The regular price of 40 yuan/hour is not cheap, but you can use Longteng Card points.
The main reason why I chose to come to Ishigaki Island is because it is cheap and I have a three-year multiple-entry visa to Japan. Especially during the May Day holiday, round-trip air tickets from the Pearl River Delta to anywhere in the country will not be less than 1,000 yuan. Even international flights from Hong Kong to Thailand, Malaysia, etc. are not cheap. The Hong Kong Express route from Hong Kong to Ishigaki Island is as low as 400 yuan in normal times, and only 700 yuan during the May Day holiday, which is extremely cost-effective. According to my observation and understanding, this line is basically not full, and there are many empty seats. I don’t know if it will be cut off later.
Ishigaki Island belongs to Okinawa and is very close to Taiwan Island and Diaoyu Islands, but far away from the main island of Japan.
Ishigaki Island and Hawaii are basically at the same latitude, with sunshine all year round. It is a famous resort in Japan. The water is very clear and there are various tropical fish. The commercial atmosphere on the island is very light, there are not many cars, and it is relatively quiet and peaceful. In addition to the Japanese, Hong Kong and Taiwanese also like to come here for vacation. On the contrary, not many Chinese come here. The main reason is that except for Taiwan and Hong Kong, there are no other cities in the country that have direct flights to here.
Historically, the Ryukyu Islands, including Ishigaki Island, were once Chinese territory and were later occupied by Japan and the United States. There is still a 730 landmark building on Ishigaki Island. In order to commemorate the handover of Okinawa to Japan by the United States, on July 30, 1978, Ishigaki City changed the original traffic regulations of driving on the right to driving on the left. This period of history is quite interesting. Interested students can search for it by themselves.
Ishigaki Island is a small island that is very suitable for vacation (although I have not been to many islands), such as couples or parent-child rooms. There are many high-end, high-end resorts, but they are not very suitable for one person. Free travel is especially reflected in transportation. Taxis and chartered cars on the island are very expensive, and domestic driving licenses cannot rent cars. Furthermore, several scenic spots are far away from the city and scattered.
A person can travel independently and can only rely on public transport. The bus transportation on Ishigaki Island is particularly inconvenient. There are only a few bus lines and very few buses. Some buses only have 2-3 buses a day, with intervals ranging from 2-4 hours. You have to be absolutely sure of the exact time. If you miss it, you may have to wait for three or four hours. If you miss the last train, it will be even worse. But I also have to praise the Japanese people for their rigorousness. The bus time is very accurate. If it says it will arrive at 12:35, it will definitely arrive at 12:35. If the bus is reliable, you should also be reliable, so that there will be harmony.
It took me a long time and a lot of brain cells to study this complicated bus route timetable. God knows what I went through. After all, I only have one day. It is difficult to visit several scenic spots in one day. I have to be precise about the time I stay at each place and the round-trip stop time of each bus. In the end, we finally decided on a relatively perfect route, which went quite smoothly. We visited all three scenic spots except Maihara Beach.
In addition, similar to other cities in Japan, Ishigaki Island also provides a "travel pass". Compared with the 1,000 yen one-day pass, the 2,000 yen 5-day pass is more cost-effective, and the bus on the island within 5 days Take any ride.
Remember to buy this, because buses in Japan are really expensive. Generally, just a round trip can be worth the fare of the "pass".
According to the timetable made in advance, I got up early and took the bus for almost an hour and finally arrived at Chuanping Bay. I was in a daze at first, but after seeing the beautiful scenery of Kabira Bay, I suddenly woke up. This is known as the Michelin three-star beach, and it is well-deserved. Kabira Bay is located in the northwest of Ishigaki Island. The beach is very delicate and the water color is dreamy. It feels a bit like the Maldives. It is the most beautiful beach on Ishigaki Island.
You cannot go into the water at the beach. There are many small hermit crabs. It is said that there are many corals under the sea. Here you can take a sightseeing boat with a transparent glass bottom to see the bottom of the sea. It costs about 1,000 yen per person, but I didn't take it. There is also a pearl breeding factory nearby, which is said to have the rarest black pearls.
Leaving Kabira Bay and heading to Hirakubosaki, you will pass by Maihara Beach and need to transfer between Ihara. Hirakubozaki is an iconic lighthouse at the northernmost tip of the northernmost strip of Ishigaki Island. The beauty here really cannot be fully reflected in photos.
After getting off the bus, you still have to walk 1.5 kilometers to reach the lighthouse, but the scenery along the way is good. Go straight up and climb the hillside to see the clear sea and various small islands. It is very spectacular, and you can almost have a 360° panoramic view of the sea. The sea is so beautiful that you can even see the coral reefs below. Although the transportation is inconvenient, it is definitely a place worth visiting. If you are traveling on a day trip, you can only stay here for 40 minutes. Time is tight, so be careful.
Leave Hirakubozaki, pass through Iharama, and arrive at Tamatorizaki. Tamatorizaki is located on a narrow and beautiful isthmus in the center of the island. There is a high observation deck where you can see the so-called "Double Sea Island". To the north, you can see Hirakubozaki, and to the east you can see the eastern coastline of Ishigaki Island. It is also said to be an excellent location to watch the sunrise.
In addition, you can also see the boundary between the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The sea surface will show two different colors, which is very magical and beautiful. Moreover, the typhoon is expected to be strong and it is rare to be cool. It is a pity that we cannot walk to the beach.
In addition, Maihara Beach on Ishigaki Island is said to be good. You can bring your own equipment and dive directly. There is a small park next to it, but unfortunately I don't have time to go there. In addition, you can go or not to places like Ishigaki Island Stalactite Cave and Tomb of the Tang Dynasty. In our 9.6 million square kilometers of land, any stalactite cave can kill this place in an instant; there are even more tombs of various ancient emperors, which are not worth mentioning.
During my travels and while waiting for the bus, I also specially observed and photographed many plants on Ishigaki Island. Whether they were flowers of various colors or fruits with strange shapes, they were all quite interesting. It is enough to prove that this is an island with a very good environment and a very original ecology.
There are many outlying islands around Ishigaki Island, such as Hateruma Island, the southernmost island in Japan, and Iriomote Island, which is undeveloped and suitable for exploration. I went to Taketomi Island, which is the nearest and most convenient. You can take a boat there at Ishigakijima Pier, and the route times for each outlying island are accurately introduced. Ishigaki Island is very close to Taketomi Island. It only takes 10 minutes by boat. It feels a bit like going to Gulangyu Island from Xiamen.
Taketomi Island is very small. It is famous for its original Okinawan house architecture and the preservation of folk culture. I rented a bicycle and traveled around the island in more than two hours. There are many cattle on the island, and there are also buffalo carts you can ride on. In addition, the small stone lions and "Shi Gandang" on various courtyard walls are quite interesting. The sea water on Taketomi Island is also very good, and there is even very special and rare star sand.
The Yaeyama Islands are a beautiful archipelago located at the southernmost tip of Japan. With Ishigaki Island as the center, the outlying islands are scattered in one of the few beautiful coral reef waters in the world. Ishigaki City is the political, economic and transportation center, and it is also the largest city in Japan. The southernmost city. Among the islands that are navigable from Ishigaki Island, there is Naha to the north. Naha is the capital of Okinawa Prefecture and the largest political, economic and cultural center of the Ryukyu Islands. To the west there is another magical island called Yonaguni Island.
Yonaguni Island is located at the westernmost point of Japan's territory. It is 150 kilometers closer to the Diaoyu Islands and only 110 kilometers away from Taiwan. It is said that local residents once wanted to "leave Japan and enter Taiwan." In addition, Yonaguni Island Some historical relics were also discovered under the sea, known as the underwater pyramids. Interested students can learn about them on their own. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time during this trip and couldn’t go there.
In addition, among the outlying islands in the Okinawa waters, Miyako Island is as famous as Ishigaki Island. However, there seems to be no navigation between Ishigaki Island and Miyako Island, so they all have to transit through Naha. It is said that the sea and beaches of Miyako Island are more beautiful than Ishigaki Island. It is the most beautiful among the outlying islands of Okinawa. I hope to have the opportunity to go there in the future.
The area of ??Ishigaki Island is only slightly larger than that of Nanshan District in Shenzhen, only 222 square kilometers. Except for the southernmost city of Ishigaki, most of the northern area is sparsely populated, with only some villages, barren mountains, vegetation and fields. In addition to brown sugar made from sugar cane, the specialty here is sea salt. KFC also recently launched Okinawa sea salt cones, and the best place for Okinawa sea salt is Ishigaki Island.
There is only one large MaxValu supermarket on Ishigaki Island, very few drugstores, no 7-11, no Don Quijote, and even the only Yaeyama Museum is closed. The two Family Marts on the island are quite large. They also sell MUJI products and support Alipay payment, which is relatively friendly.
So if you want to do Japanese shopping in Ishigaki Island, give up in advance.
When I used to go out for fun, I always liked to stay in youth hostels. But the youth hostel is noisy, which is inconsistent with the Japanese temperament. Compared to youth hostels, capsule hotels are more popular in Japan. I stayed in Hiroshima last time and had a good experience, so I chose a capsule hotel this time when I came to Ishigaki Island. The capsule hotel called Blue Cabin on Ishigaki Island has a high score on Booking. It is really good, the price is moderate, and the buffet breakfast is full every day.
Although the sparrow is small, it has all the internal organs. This sentence is perfect to describe Japan’s capsule restaurants. The capsule hotel is very quiet, and everyone has their own private space. Although the space is not large, exhaust air conditioners, chargers, desk lamps, and even TVs and trash cans are all available. And all aspects of hygiene in Japan are really clean. The Japanese's rigorous style of doing things can also be reflected in the accommodation in the hotel. Every aspect is considered thoughtfully, so you can rest assured.
The airport bus in Ishigaki Island is pretty good and relatively convenient. There is one bus in about 15 minutes. Ishigakijima Airport is very small and slightly crowded. International flights seem to only go to Hong Kong, and there is only one check-in counter and one boarding gate. The only Starbucks on Ishigaki Island is also at the airport, and the prices are still cheaper than in China.
On this Hong Kong-Ishigaki Island route, the plane will pass through our treasure island of Taiwan from the air. The flying altitude is not very high, so you can see it more clearly. The coastlines of Hualien and Taitung can be seen on the east side of Treasure Island, and the famous Kaohsiung Port can also be seen on the west side, and even the central mountains of Taiwan are clearly visible.
This time when I went to Ishigaki Island for Internet access, I still chose the virtual SIM card of Black Tea Mobile, and brought a vivo phone and a OnePlus phone. NTT Docomo’s network does seem to be better than Softbank’s. After all, it is On the islands, the signal is not that strong in some places. But urban areas and scenic spots are all 4G, and the network speed is guaranteed, so you can rest assured. In addition, Public WiFi seems to be provided on Ishigaki Island, but I have not tried it and I don’t know if verification is required.
It is an island after all, and the sun on Ishigaki Island is particularly poisonous. In particular, many places have no shade and the sun will shine directly. If you walk on the street around 2 o'clock in the afternoon, it will be fatal. I didn't wear sunscreen, so both arms were tanned and even slightly burned. It took two weeks after I came back to heal. So as a reminder, you must pay attention to sun protection. In addition, you should also pay attention to mosquito protection in some scenic spots.
I would also like to mention that to apply for Japan’s three-year visa with low requirements, you need to limit the place of first entry. Generally, you can choose the six northeastern counties or Okinawa. For example, you can stay for 1-2 nights and provide parking. Only with proof of accommodation can you activate a three-year multiple-entry visa. If you choose to enter Okinawa, in addition to Naha, Ishigaki Island is also a good choice.
This is my third time coming to Japan, and I guess there will be another time soon.
