How long can Portuguese immigrants be naturalized?

After immigrating to Portugal, you can apply for naturalization after legally staying in Portugal for 6 years.

According to the Portuguese Nationality Law promulgated by the Portuguese Parliament, the basic requirements for naturalization are as follows (only one of the following conditions needs to be met):

1. Have lived legally in Portugal for 6 years;

2. Minors born in Portugal and receiving basic education in Portugal, and one of their parents has legally stayed in Portugal for more than 5 years;

3. People born abroad whose grandparents have Portuguese nationality, or people who have lived illegally in Portugal for more than ten years.

4. Minors or children who can't take care of themselves, and one of their parents has obtained Portuguese nationality;

5. People who meet the relevant laws and regulations and can marry or reunite with people of Portuguese nationality;

6. Minors adopted by persons of Portuguese nationality;

7. People who have made great contributions to Portugal or the Portuguese nation.
