Thoughts on Reading Primitive Tribe

Primitive Tribe is a novella written by Chen Cang, a poet and novelist after 1970s. The novel is about a bachelor in da miao cun who cultivates land, goes to the grave, sends lanterns and continues the local blood songs for the trust of villagers. Accompanied by a shotgun, he cleans every night. The heroine Bai Xiaojing is a homecoming from Shanghai to her hometown in Shaanxi for the Spring Festival. Because the mountain was closed by heavy snow, she went to da miao cun by mistake. One is a shampoo girl who was forced to fall, and the other is the only left-behind person in da miao cun. A man and a woman started an exchange about survival, faith and home in the deserted da miao cun.

This story once again aroused my nostalgia for my hometown. The place where I was born and raised, the small mountain village that haunted me, has long since disappeared. In the torrent of reform, young people flock to cities and old people move to other places. All the houses in my memory were demolished, leaving no trace.

After reading this novel, on the one hand, I was insulted and bullied by Bai Xiaojing, a city dweller, and on the other hand, I was particularly envious of this bachelor in da miao cun. At least his village has not been demolished, and he can also post Spring Festival couplets and sweep graves for every household. How lucky I am compared with me. If possible, I also want to go back to my small mountain village, guard the land alone, work at sunrise, rest at sunset, be self-sufficient and live quietly. But the reality tells me that this idea is too extravagant, so there is a kind of melancholy in my heart.

? Homesickness, homesickness, is the frustration of tears condensation, is the mark engraved on the body, is the blood dripping from the heart, is the singing in the dream, is the pain that goes deep into the bone marrow.
