The most important southward migration in China's history and its influence

In the history of China, there have been at least three large-scale population migrations to the south:

Yongjia Rebellion: Including Five Rebellions, Eight Kings Rebellion, Five Dynasties and Sixteen Countries. Years of war in the north led to a large number of Han people moving south during this period, and at the same time, the Han culture in the north was integrated with the ethnic minorities in the south.

An-Shi Rebellion: The local power was too large, which led to years of war in the north. The northern region was controlled by various ethnic minority regimes, so the Han people could not bear it and fled to the south in succession, which formed the second population migration in the history of China. This migration fundamentally changed the distribution pattern of China's population, making the population in the south surpass that in the north for the first time, and the center of China's population geographical division shifted from the Yellow River basin to the Yangtze River basin for the first time.

The difficulty of Jingkang: In the second year of Jingkang (1 127), Bian Jing took the place of Jin of the Qidan people (Liao) and was captured by Hui and Qin, and the Northern Song Dynasty perished. This is the "Jingkang Change". The people in the vast enemy-occupied areas in the north could not bear the aristocratic rule and national oppression of the rulers and were forced to move. The relatively stable social environment and a large number of uncultivated farmland in the south have attracted people all over the country who are eager to live and work in peace and contentment, and a large number of royalty, officials and scholars have flocked to the south, which is the third great population migration in the history of China.

History is a history of conflict between Han nationality and nomadic people in the north, and it is also a history of alternation between farming civilization and nomadic civilization. In history, whenever a relatively unified and powerful regime appeared in the Central Plains, a relatively unified regime was bound to compete with it. Generally speaking, it basically ended in the victory of the northern aliens. However, due to their cultural weakness, every military victory will eventually be melted by the powerful Han civilization and finally completed.
