A film review on the bloody battle of the Rhine.

This is a very good World War II movie. What attracted me was not fancy special effects or bloody gun battles, but fascinating plot and thought-provoking thinking.

The protagonist is a German soldier who is willing to be a spy for the American army after being captured, but the beginning and end are the self-reports of an American lieutenant who witnessed him.

Before and after the Battle of Ardennes, the American captain was sent to the US special forces as a communication officer after his injury. The task of this unit is to recruit suitable candidates from German prisoners and send them back to spy on German intelligence. This is a bad job, so the US military has strictly screened the candidates, and other captured Germans are also remembering their names, waiting to go back for revenge.

The lieutenant captured a German air force sergeant and a young air force soldier on the way. The sergeant was suspected of betraying Germany and was tried and murdered by his cellmate. I heard that Germans have a tradition of trying and executing their own people in prison camps, and the US military always turns a blind eye to this kind of thing (this reminds me of the Jeju Island prison camp in the Korean War, and the US military also acquiesced in the persecution of volunteer prisoners of war in the prison camp). The young soldier was shocked by this incident. Since then, his faith has been strengthened and he decided to fight to save the people in his country.

Although Americans want to use these German prisoners of war, they look down on them from their hearts. In their view, this is just another German soldier and traitor. A female staff officer of the US Army fell in love with a young soldier, but she was immediately transferred from her post. The Americans have recruited another middle-aged German soldier, who looks glib. Americans gave him a code name "Tiger" (code name: Happy). Two spies and lieutenants were airdropped to the hinterland of Germany to negotiate a secret surrender with a German general.

Happiness was airdropped to Munich alone. At first, everything went well. With the original documents and forged discharge leave documents, no one doubted him. Later, I met a fat German motorcyclist on the road. This guy looks friendly and helpful. However, when it comes to Arthas' sovereignty, happiness is glared at him because he sympathizes with France. From then on, he began to doubt happiness. Before they parted, he called another soldier to kill happiness.

In the bar, Happy met a German woman who was kicked out of the house after her husband died ... This probably strengthened Happy's idea of solving this war as soon as possible. Although my father was nearby, Happy didn't visit him. He just called the other party to growl and not answer, because he was afraid of getting into trouble, and the US asked him to go back within five days.

Happiness successfully infiltrated the target to be contacted: 1 1 a headquarters of the armored army. He won the trust of the chief officer and saved his life when he had a heart attack, but the chief officer actually dreamed that Happiness was a spy (mostly made up by screenwriters, which was a coincidence that everyone was dead) and Happiness was spying on the German movement route at the headquarters.

In the air raid, the German soldiers who were ordered to see Happy tried to kill Happy, but he was killed by Happy. He found that his name had actually been blacklisted as a spy (though he didn't know how). So he had to give up his identity card. When he saw someone set up a check card check 96, he finally got together with the tiger and the captain after several adventures.

Because the German general was injured in the air raid, the hospital was surrounded by SS and could not be contacted, so the three men had to flee to the American position on the other side of Lanyin River. The tiger took them to his nephew's house to observe the Rhine River. As a result, the conversation was overheard by his nephew, which immediately attracted a large number of SS. Later, a dramatic scene happened. It turned out that these three people were surrounded by ruins. Only the tiger nephew saw the lieutenant, but he dared not make any noise. Finally, he simply let his uncle go.

Three people want to cross the Rhine, but at the last minute the tiger wants to escape (why? I don't know), so I was hit by the lieutenant. In order to cross the barbed wire, Happy stood up and was found by German soldiers, so that the lieutenant could sneak back. The only person waiting for Happy was shot.

Finally, when they returned to the US military headquarters, the US military commander was indifferent to the deaths of the two men. In their view, this is "the traitor deserved it", and even ordinary soldiers think so. It is understandable to think so. In the eyes of soldiers of any country (including Americans who are not serious about surrender), it is shameful to be used by the enemy after being captured. Even if it is useful, it is just a piece that can be discarded at any time. Therefore, no matter whether our side is good or bad, and what the country and faith are fighting for, it is better to fight for our own side.
