How do you say "migrant workers" in English?

There is no word "migrant workers" in English, either written in pinyin by some foreign media or directly translated into "immigrants", and of course, some domestic English media, such as chinadaily, translated into "immigrants", which means immigrants.

Why don't these English translations be directly transferred to "peasant workers" or "peasant workers"?

Because if translated in this way, friends will be surprised, "Oh, China was segregated in the 2nd/Kloc-0th century, and they have separated farmers from workers, urban residents from rural people"!
