The connection between Chaozhou and Shanxi

Zheng Chen's Chronicle of Zhangzhou also tells that Zheng Chen stationed troops in the clouds and crossed Suixi. His mother, Mrs. Wei, drank clear water and said affectionately, "This water is as clear as the party's." The Chen family tree in Chaozhou also records that Emperor Taizong led 50,000 soldiers and captured Huoyi and Linfen. Shangdang, Huoyi and Linfen all belong to Shanxi, which shows that the close relationship between Chen and his son and Shanxi is a strong evidence of Shanxi people.

According to the military system of being a soldier in wartime and farming in peacetime in the Tang Dynasty, most of Chen's soldiers were from Shanxi. For example, Zheng Chen's lieutenant Xu Tao and Chen Yuanguang's lieutenant Xu Tianzheng are both from Taiyuan, Shanxi. Although Xu Shi's genealogy has the saying of "looking out of Runan", Wen Tingyun has pointed out in the note of Biography of Xu Shen that Xu Shi in Runan has never been known since Xu Shao and Xu Shen, and there is only one in Taiyuan. According to research, Xu, his father, helped conquer Linfen and other places. Visible, at the latest in Xu Tianzheng grandparents, Xu Shi has settled in Shanxi. In recent years, some experts believe that it is impossible for Zheng Chen and Chen Yuanguang to walk all the way from Hedong and Wan Li to southern Fujian and eastern Guangdong, so they suspect that they are local recruits. However, this has been the case in the past dynasties. Shipbuilders in Fu Bo and Qin and Han Dynasties are examples. Moreover, in the early Tang Dynasty, Chaozhou was sparsely populated, with more than 4,000 households at most, so it was impossible to recruit such a large Chen army. Even if some teams are recruited locally, they should be immigrants from the Central Plains with Hedong as the main body.

In the Tang Dynasty, it was not only two generals, Zheng Chen and Chen Yuanguang, who entered the tide from Hedong. For example, people in Jiangxian County, Hedong, went to Chaoyang Xishan to take care of the aftermath. Liu is a native of Hedong and moved to Chaozhou in the late Tang Dynasty.

It is precisely because Shanxi people have migrated to southern Fujian and Chaoshan areas in large numbers that Shanxi dialect and southern Fujian dialect have a lot in common. Mr. Tsung i Jao once pointed out that the unique B and G sounds in Chaoshan come from MB and NG; MB and NG are only found in Osmanthus fragrans, Taigu, Wenshui, Xingxian and Pingyang in Shanxi. This can also prove that Chen and his department are mainly from a province in Shanxi.
