Sihui county has been a land of hundreds of miles since ancient times. In the thirty-third year of Qin Shiwang (2 14 BC), Lingnan was pacified and Guilin, Nanhai and Xiang Jun were established. Sihui County was first located in the Qin Dynasty and belonged to Guilin County. Ding Yuan was renamed Nanhai County in the 6th year of Han Dynasty (1 165438 BC).

In the sixth year of Kaibao in the Northern Song Dynasty (973), Huameng County was merged into Sihui, and the county territory was expanded. In the thirty-eighth year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (1559), Guang Ningxian was located in Chetaipingdu, Yongyidu, Dapudu and parts of Gan Lan. The territory of this county has been reduced to a very small area. 1952 Guang Ningxian co-located with Sihui County and changed its name to Guangsi County.

1July, 954, Guang and Si counties were separated, and the original townships, such as Jianglin, Huangtian and Shigou, were placed under the jurisdiction of Sihui County.
