There are two main types of work visas in Japan, high-level talent visas and general employment visas.

High talent visa

In order to promote the introduction of high-skilled foreign professionals, the government launched the outstanding foreign talents scoring system in May 20 12, providing preferential treatment for high-skilled foreign professionals, including entry and exit. Holders of high-level talent visas can stay in Japan for five years, and their dependent spouses and children can also apply for visas to Japan for five, three or one years.

Conditions for applying for a high-level talent visa:

Senior talents in academic research, professional technology (science and humanities) or enterprise management.

Score at least 70 points in the calculation table, including age, education, work experience and annual salary.

The annual salary is at least 3 million yen

Employment Visa

Japan's work visa is applicable to 10 industries, including: professors, artists, religious activities, journalists, business managers, legal/accounting services, medical services, researchers, lecturers, humanities/international service engineers/experts, intra-company transfer, nursing, artists, skilled workers and skills intern training.

With this visa, you can stay for 5 years, 3 years, 1 year, 4 months or 3 months.

Specific skills

On April 20 19, the Japanese government introduced a new residence permit "specific skills" to solve the problem of labor shortage. The applicant must be employed by a company recognized by Japan and pass the technical examination and language proficiency test (N4). If you hold "Specific Skill No.2" with higher skill level requirements, you don't need to pass the Japanese proficiency test. Holders of specific skills visas can change companies under the same job category; If you pass the exam to confirm that your skill level is close to the current level, you can also change to a different job in the same field.
