Why do overseas Chinese succeed in Indonesia instead of in Europe and America?

Immigrants from China are now all over the world, but they are relatively more successful than Indonesian overseas Chinese. According to Asia Global magazine, seven of Indonesia's top ten richest people are Chinese, and the industries they control are very huge, and the average level of ordinary Chinese is higher than Indonesia.

Corresponding to Europe and the United States, although Chinese have performed well in Europe and the United States, they are all role models of ethnic minorities, with excellent education and low crime rate. Many people have become lawyers, doctors and even politicians, but they are not real business tycoons.

So what caused this situation? Is the competition between Europe and America too fierce, or are there some unfriendly laws, or are there not enough development resources?

Wealth has intergenerational characteristics in a sense. Poverty and wealth are often passed from one generation to the next like diseases. If you have a certain wealth base, you will have more wealth and more opportunities to fly to you. If you run a family business, you can pass it on to your family members. The richest man in Indonesia is Chinese, all descendants of Chinese businessmen, and almost all of them are second-generation Indonesian Chinese.

In the early days when Chinese immigrated to Indonesia, Chinese were regarded as foreigners. In some industries, such as trade or commodity circulation, Indonesia has granted the second generation of Chinese businessmen franchise rights, which means that they have gained a monopoly position in these industries, thus accumulating a lot of wealth. Although this monopoly no longer exists, the economic status of Chinese people is so deeply rooted and unshakable that it is difficult for any force to influence them and make their economic influence more stable.

The situation of Chinese in Europe and America is very different. From the19th century, China people began to immigrate to the United States. But at that time, the United States was not friendly to China people, which led to China people being restricted or even confined to certain areas. I don't think America has changed much. There have always been black areas and white areas, but this restriction leads China people to live only in certain cities, such as new york and San Francisco. Although it can enter the commercial field, it is difficult to be accepted by other business partners. It was not until the global civil rights movement was launched after World War II that ethnic minorities began to have equal rights. However, compared with Indonesian Chinese, they don't have much wealth base. Although the white world doesn't admit it in its bones, it still tends to be xenophobic.

Of course, these are only objective factors. I think the most important thing is our culture, emphasis on education, excellent business mind, higher comprehensive quality than other nationalities, and the influence of ancient wisdom. After 5000 years of baptism, these have been implanted into bone marrow. I think even in Europe and America, there will always be people in our country who will achieve more extraordinary success. It's only a matter of time.
