Study in Canada, colorful holiday life at the University of Western Ontario

The vacation life at the University of Western Ontario in Canada is exciting. Students who study in Canada know that the holidays are particularly long, especially during the summer vacation. During the holidays, many international students do not return to their home countries. Instead, they travel and work in Canada, doing things that can improve themselves, broaden their horizons, and experience life. So how was the holiday at the University of Western Ontario in Canada? Canada Belle invited a graduate to talk about his feelings.

? Interviewee: Alyssa, graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Canada.

? Me: I heard that Canadian universities have very long vacations. Can you tell me what kind of vacations you have?

?Alyssa: Okay! There are winter and summer vacations every year, just like our domestic universities. But the winter vacation usually lasts from mid-December to early January, just like Christmas, which doesn’t last long. Summer vacation is quite long, usually from mid-May to the end of August, which is almost 4 months. We also have spring break, which is usually in March. Spring break usually lasts 3-5 days. For students studying in Canada, life is relatively comfortable among international students!

? Me: So what do you do during the holidays? Let me share your experience so that students who are about to go to Canada can refer to it.

?Alyssa: Some universities have summer courses for certain majors. If your major has summer courses, you can take these courses during the summer and earn credits, which may shorten your graduation time. Usually those who do this are Chinese students who are known for their diligence. I have a classmate who spent the whole vacation in the library. The most shocking thing is that he slept in the library. Did you know that Canadian university dormitories are generally closed during the summer vacation? If you apply to take summer courses, the school will organize these students and place them in a dormitory building. But in order to earn credits and save money, my classmate actually made the library his home. He would study in the middle of the night and sleep on the table when he got sleepy. Anyway, the library environment is very good, warm in winter and cool in summer. But it must be a bad rest. But hard work paid off. It only took him three years to complete his undergraduate course. He is now a graduate student at this school and has received a considerable scholarship. He told me that he spent almost no money from his parents on his studies in Canada over the years. In this way, he became a role model for me to learn from. Whenever I think of him, I feel that the difficulties in front of me are nothing at all. Just like the old saying goes: The edge of a sword comes from sharpening, and the fragrance of plum blossoms comes from the bitter cold.

? Also, some students will use their holidays to study a practical technical course or business English at a community college or language school to prepare for successful immigration in the future. Some of my classmates majored in cooking and computer application technology, both of which are easy to find jobs in. As the saying goes: Skills are not a priority!

Me: Thank you Alyssa for sharing these valuable experiences with us. Through interviewing her, I realized that the holidays are long, but students still have a lot to do. What Alyssa said: The edge of a sword comes from sharpening, and the fragrance of plum blossoms comes from the bitter cold? It also touched me deeply. In fact, whether you are studying at home or studying abroad, if you want to learn more knowledge and skills, you need to work hard and Sweaty.

I firmly believe that sweat and hard work will eventually produce beautiful flowers. I wish you all a happy study abroad life!
