Dr. Hsiao-Wuen Hon is currently the president of Microsoft Research Asia, responsible for the research and management of the Institute in the fields of Internet search, data mining, voice technology, natural language processing technology, systems, wireless and network, platform equipment and media communication. Dr. Hong is also responsible for the development of China Search Technology Center (STC) and MSN/Live search products.
Before coming to China, Dr. Hong worked as an architect of Microsoft's natural interaction service department, and made outstanding contributions to the development of many award-winning products such as Microsoft voice server, natural user interface platform and Microsoft support platform in terms of architecture and technology. Dr. Hong joined Microsoft Headquarters, 65438-0995 Senior Research Fellow. As the executive vice president of Microsoft Research Asia, Dr. Ma is responsible for leading research teams in the fields of Internet search and data mining, natural language computing and human-computer interaction. In the past few years, Dr. Ma's research team has transformed a large number of core technologies into Microsoft's search and online service products. His team has also published many high-level papers in important international academic conferences and journals, including SIGIR, WWW and ACM Multimedia. Under the leadership of Dr. Ma, his team's outstanding achievements in Internet search, data mining, multimedia information retrieval and other fields have been widely recognized by international academic circles.
Before joining Microsoft Research Asia in 200 1, Dr. Ma had been working in Hewlett-Packard Lab in California since 1997, engaged in the research of adaptive multimedia transmission and distributed multimedia service system on mobile Internet. From 1994 to 1997, Dr. Ma participated in the Alexander digital library project at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In this process, Netra, an Internet image retrieval system developed by him, has been widely cited by other researchers and is considered as one of the most representative image retrieval systems.
Dr. Ma Weiying is a member of the editorial boards of American Computer Society Journal of Information Systems (TOIS) and American Computer Society/springer Journal of Multimedia Systems. He is also the co-chairman of the program committee of 17 International Internet Conference (WWW), the program committee of 2007 Pacific Rim Multimedia Conference (PCM) and the co-chairman of 2008 Asia Information Retrieval Seminar (AIRS). Dr. Ma Weiying is the co-chairman of the 2005 International Multimedia Modeling Conference (MMM) and the 2005 International Image and Video Retrieval Conference (CIVR). In addition, he also participated in organizing many other important international conferences and served as a member of the planning committee, such as ACM Multimedia, SIGIR, CIKM, KDD and WWW. So far, Dr. Ma has published more than 250 papers in the fields of Internet search, information retrieval, content-based image retrieval, data mining, adaptive content transmission and mobile access.
Dr. Ma graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering in Tsinghua University, Taiwan Province on 1990, and received his master's and doctor's degrees in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) on 1994 and 1997 respectively.
Dr. Guo Baining, Executive Vice President
Dr. Guo Baining is currently the vice president of Microsoft Research Asia, mainly engaged in the research of network graphics technology, virtual environment technology based on network application, geometric model, image-based model and rendering, texture synthesis, realistic graphics and image technology and other fields.
Dr. Guo Baining is the deputy editor of the Journal of Visual and Computer Graphics of the American Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He has served as a member of the International Program Committee and participated in many international graphics conferences, including ACM SIGGRAPH organized by the American Computer Society and IEEE Visualization organized by the American Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. European Graphics Rendering Seminar, Pacific Graphics, ACM Virtual Reality Software and Technology Seminar organized by American Computer Society, ACM Entity and Physical Modeling Seminar organized by American Computer Society. Dr. Guo has published more than 70 academic papers in internationally renowned magazines and academic conferences, and holds more than 40 technical patents.
Dr. Guo Baining joined Microsoft China Research Institute (predecessor of Asia Research Institute) from 65438 to 0999. Previously, he was a senior researcher at the Silicon Valley Headquarters Research Institute of Intel Corporation in the United States, responsible for the research of the next generation graphics system. Dr. Guo Baining received his master's and doctor's degrees from Cornell University and his bachelor's degree from Peking University.
Dr. Zhao Feng, Executive Vice President
Dr. Zhao Feng, Executive Vice President of Microsoft Research Asia, is mainly responsible for the research work in computer systems, wireless and network, hardware computing, software analysis and other fields.
Before joining Microsoft Research Asia, Dr. Zhao was the chief researcher of Raymond Research Institute at Microsoft headquarters, and was responsible for the embedded computing group in the network. He led the development of sensor dust particles, micro-network services, SenseWeb and SensorMap, data center genome, Joule meter and GAMPS data compression in Microsoft Research Institute. With the help of many technologies developed by Dr. Zhao, today's Microsoft data center is called the most instrumented and monitored cloud computing infrastructure in the world.
Dr. Zhao is the founding editor of ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks, and has written or co-authored more than 65,438+000 technical papers and books, including "Wireless Sensor Networks: Information Processing Methods" published by Morgan Kaufman (co-authored with Leo Guibas). Dr Zhao has won many awards, including Si Long Fellow, Young Fellow Award of National Science Foundation (NSF) and Young Fellow Award of Naval Research Office (ONR). Dr. Zhao graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University and received his Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Before joining Microsoft, Dr. Zhao was the chief scientist at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center in Silicon Valley, leading the research of sensor networks in the center, and teaching at Ohio State University and Stanford University.
Director of Technical Strategy, dr. zhang
Dr. zhang joined Microsoft Research Asia in July 1999, engaged in phonetic research. He is currently the senior technical strategy director of Microsoft Research Asia, responsible for research project communication, intellectual property asset management and new research topic management. Before taking up his new position in Microsoft Asia Research Institute, dr. zhang was the vice president of Microsoft Asia Engineering Institute and one of the founders of the Institute in 2003. In the Academy of Engineering, he led the team to develop Windows Mobile and Windows products, and established a multidisciplinary technology product incubation team. Before joining the Chinese Academy of Engineering, dr. zhang served as the chief researcher of the Phonology Group and the director of university relations. His team successfully converted the Mandarin speech recognition engine into Chinese versions of Office and Windows.
He is one of the founders of the research department of Nuance Communications and a pioneer in the research of natural language interface in the field of telecommunications. During his work in Nuance, he worked in the fields of confidence analysis, acoustic modeling, speech detection and so on. He led the researchers to develop the Japanese version of Nuance product, which is the first open Japanese speech recognition system in the world. He also developed a new speech recognition algorithm in Lincoln Laboratory of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, invented a new circuit optimization technology in Toshiba ULSI Research Center, and studied pattern recognition in R&D Center of General Electric Company.
Dr. zhang graduated from MIT with bachelor's, master's and doctor's degrees in electronic engineering and computer science. He has published many papers on speech technology and machine learning in internationally renowned magazines and academic conferences, and is the owner of many patents.
Dr. Li Shipeng, Vice President
Dr. Li Shipeng joined Microsoft Research Asia in May 1999, and is currently the vice president, chief researcher and chief researcher of multimedia computing business group. Dr. Li is also responsible for coordinating the research work in the multimedia field of Microsoft Research Asia. His research interests are signal and image processing, media content analysis, image and video coding, HDTV technology, multimedia communication and play online technology on wireless and network, scalable media coding technology, application layer network technology, digital rights management, wireless communication and network technology, P2P network technology, new media formats and systems, multimedia advertising technology, digital medical care and user intention mining.
1June 1996 to1May 1999, Dr. Li worked as a researcher in the multimedia technology laboratory (former research center and RCA laboratory) of Sarnoff Company in the United States. Dr. Li is devoted to the research in the field of multimedia. He has made great contributions to the image and video coding technology in MPEG-4 and H.264 international standards. 1998 He invented and developed the world's first HDTV decoder with high quality and low cost. As early as 2000, he initiated the research of P2P streaming media transmission in Microsoft Research Asia. He led the team to successfully develop the prototype of trans-Pacific streaming media system based on scalable video coding in 200 1. He is an advocate of scalable coding, which greatly promoted the formulation of scalable extension standard in H.264/AVC international standard. Dr. Li is the Secretary-General of Video Signal Processing and Communication Committee of IEEE Circuit and Systems Association, a member of Multimedia Systems and Applications Committee, a member of Multimedia Communication Committee of IEEE Communication Association and a member of Multimedia Signal Processing Committee of IEEE Signal Processing Association. He is currently the deputy editor-in-chief of IEEE video technology journals "Circuits and Systems" and "Video Communication and Image Expression". He has served as the chairman of the IEEE PCM2000 Special Program, the chairman of the IEEE PCM200 1 Conference, the chairman of the VCIP2005 Program, the chairman of the Packet Video 2006 Conference, the chairman of the ICME 2006 field, the chairman of the IEEE ISM 2006 Publicity, and the chairman of the IEEE PSIVT 2006 Theme. Dr. Li is a visiting professor at Shandong University, Sichuan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Nankai University and Tianjin University, and a part-time tutor at University of Science and Technology of China and Shanghai Jiaotong University.
Dr. Li received his bachelor's degree and master's degree in Radio Department of China University of Science and Technology at 1988 and199 respectively. 1996 received a doctorate in electrical engineering from Lehigh University, Pennsylvania, USA. He once worked as a teaching assistant in the Department of Radio, Chinese University of Science and Technology at 199 1 992.
Dr. Li is the only winner of Guo Moruo Scholarship twice (1987, 199 1) in the history of the Chinese University of Science and Technology. He was also the first researcher to win two Sanov Achievement Awards in the same year (1997). Dr. Li has won the Best Paper Award in 2007, the Best Paper Award (Poster) in 2008 and the Best Paper Award in IEEE Video Technology Circuits and Systems (2009). The students he directed won the VCIP Best Student Thesis Award VCIP 2005. During his ten years in Microsoft Research Asia, Dr. Li has trained three TR35 Prize winners from MIT (the 35 most potential innovators under the age of 35 in the world).
Dr. Zhang Zheng, Vice President
Dr Zhang Zheng joined the Multimedia Group of Microsoft Research Asia in 2002 as the project leader. Dr Zhang Zheng is the vice president and chief researcher of Microsoft Research Asia, in charge of system and network research (including system research group and wireless and network research group). Dr. Zhang Zheng has served as a member of technical committees of many international conferences, including IPTPS, ICDCS, WWW, USENIX MobiSys, USENIX ATC, etc.
Dr. Zhang Zheng 65438-0984 studied in the Department of Electronic Engineering of Fudan University; 1987, as one of the first batch of 13 students in Fudan University, entered the postgraduate course; 1990 to study at the University of Texas at Dallas; 1992 received his master's degree, and transferred to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in the spring of 1993, and received his doctorate in the autumn of 1996. Since then, Dr. Zhang Zheng has been working in Hewlett-Packard Central Laboratory, and his research fields involve high-performance supercomputer system architecture and large-scale distributed systems. Dr Zhang Zheng is also one of the founders of online magazines New Threads and National Style. He edited the first two volumes of Selected Poems for Overseas Students under the pseudonym of "Bamboo Man", and presided over the columns of Art Museum and Half Bottle Poetry Society in Guofeng.
Song Luolan, Vice President
Song Luolan joined Microsoft as a system engineer on 1994, and then went to Tokyo to be responsible for the development of Microsoft's commercial application systems in China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan Province Province, Hong Kong and other countries and regions, including sales, marketing, customer support, personnel and administration. She has successfully managed several key projects and accumulated rich technical management experience. She established a brand-new IT team in Asia: from recruiting talents, making strategic plans, to managing millions of dollars of working capital. Because of his excellent work, Song Luolan was promoted to senior regional IT manager, responsible for the business of 12 subsidiary in Asia.
1999 Song Luolan returned to the US headquarters as a senior project manager, responsible for system design, development and testing, as well as the operation support of the backstage main system of the company's website.
