Hefei Legal Aid Center was established in December 1996. It is one of the first legal aid institutions established in Anhui Province. Since its establishment, the Hefei Legal Aid Center has always given top priority to protecting the rights of vulnerable groups such as the elderly, the weak, the sick and the disabled, and has actively explored various measures to facilitate people to consult and apply for legal aid. , doing everything possible to meet the legal aid needs of people in need. In May 2004, the Hefei Legal Aid Center formulated the "Hefei Legal Aid Center's Acceptance Scope of Assistance Cases" in accordance with the "Legal Aid Regulations" and the "Anhui Provincial Legal Aid Regulations". The "Scope of Acceptance of Assistance Cases" has strong operability. On the one hand, it facilitates the reception staff to quickly and efficiently review the parties' legal aid applications in accordance with the law. On the other hand, it appropriately expands the scope of legal aid based on the actual situation of our city. Enable more impoverished people to benefit from legal aid. In order to further expand the coverage of legal aid, the Hefei Legal Aid Center has also set up legal aid workstations (offices) at the Hefei Needy Workers Support Center, Hefei Disabled Persons' Federation, and Hefei Yicheng Prison, and arranged for lawyers to be on duty at the sites regularly. Facilitate specific vulnerable groups to consult the law and apply for legal aid. In June 2004, the Hefei Legal Aid Center also cooperated with the International Judicial Bridge (Foundation) to strengthen international legal aid exchanges and established the country's first municipal-level criminal model legal aid center in our city.

Since its establishment, the Hefei Legal Aid Center has handled more than 1,500 criminal, civil, economic, administrative, non-litigation and other types of legal aid cases. Among them, it has accepted criminal designated defense cases from the People’s Court. It has accepted applications from parties, handled nearly 700 various civil legal aid cases, received more than 28,000 calls and visits for consultation, written more than 1,000 legal documents for free, and conducted 30 voluntary legal consultations on the streets, effectively safeguarding the rights of recipients. protect the legal rights and interests of aid recipients and promote judicial justice.
