Wuyu train ferry is one of Wuhu hub construction projects, located in Wuhu City, Anhui Province, across the Yangtze River, and was built in 1958. The north bank is located in Baer Town, Wuwei County, connecting Huainan Line and the south bank is located in Wuhu City, connecting Ningwu Line, Wuhu Copper Line and Anhui-Jiangxi Line. The ferry connects the traffic of Anhui, Jiangsu and Jiangxi provinces. Wu Yu has built two train ferries. The first ferry was built at 1958 and the second ferry was built at 1985. With the completion and navigation of Wuyu Ferry, Wuhu Ferry Station was established. Anhui Provincial Ethnic Affairs Commission, Wuhu Society and Wuhu Municipal Ethnic Affairs Commission mobilized all sectors of society to support ferry construction. In terms of construction technology, all units have sent engineers and technicians to personally command. In the dike-breaking and sluice-building project, Anhui Provincial Water Resources Department sent engineers to guide the construction of sluice and dike reinforcement project. Wuhu area construction company mobilized two-thirds of the construction force to undertake the task of building the gate; Wuhu Port Construction No.2 Bureau prefabricated and drove cement piles for the project; Wuchang ferry section supports dredgers and tugboats.
During the construction of the ferry project, President Mao Zedong asked about the progress of the ferry when he visited Anhui in September. 1958 was concerned about the ferry construction. Ceng Xisheng, the first secretary of Anhui Provincial Party Committee, visited Wuhu twice to inspect the ferry project. The agency and the Municipal People's Committee also sent responsible persons to personally grasp the progress of the project. Thanks to the strong support of all parties, the progress of the ferry project was accelerated, and the ferry project was completed in only 80 days. Due to the simple facilities and low capacity of Wuyu first ferry, it is impossible to ferry passenger trains and meet the needs of railway transportation development. /kloc-in the winter of 0/959, the Ministry of Railways decided to build a new train ferry with a trestle with remote control lifting equipment on the upper reaches of the first ferry, namely Wuyuer Ferry. The "Anhui Yangtze River Ferry Project Command" composed of the Academy of Iron Sciences, the local government and the railway is responsible for the construction, the Bridge Bureau undertakes the main project of the trestle, and the Bengbu Railway Bureau is responsible for the cross-strait railway line and freight yard project. The station project started in March, 1960, and the trestle started in May of the same year. At the end of the year, the piling work of trestle foundation was completed. The construction of Erdu Wuhu Wharf affected the use of Yidu high-grade wharf, so it was decided to change the original medium-grade wharf with three holes 16m steel plate girder into medium-grade wharf. The reconstruction project started in February of 196 1, and the navigation was completed in April of the same year. 196 1 May, the trestle bridge project was handed over to Bengbu Railway Bureau for construction. Later, because the country shortened the capital construction front, it failed to continue construction.
