Shanggao county, which belongs to Yichun City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the northwest of Jiangxi Province, in the middle reaches of Jinjiang River, a tributary of Ganjiang River, with Gao 'an City in the east, Wanzai County in the west, Yushui District, Fenyi County, Yichun City and Yuanzhou District of Xinyu City in the south and Yifeng County in the north. Shanggao county has a total area of 1 350km2, and governs1street, 9 towns, 5 townships, 186 administrative villages and 22 communities. It is higher than the county built in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Formerly known as Shangcai County, it was named shanggao county in the Southern Tang Dynasty.
