In order to meet the urgent demand for high-quality talents for the development of national integrated circuit industry as soon as possible, the Ministry of Education and other six departments issued a circular on supporting the construction of demonstration microelectronics colleges in relevant universities in 20 15, supporting nine universities to build national demonstration microelectronics colleges nationwide, and supporting 17 universities to build national demonstration microelectronics colleges to train integrated circuit professionals. Dalian University of Technology is one of the 17 universities to be established, and it is also the only national demonstration microelectronics college to be established in Northeast China.

The college has the right to award doctoral and master's degrees in the first-class disciplines of electronic science and technical engineering and post-doctoral mobile stations, the right to award doctoral and master's degrees in microelectronics and solid-state electronics, physical electronics, circuit and system engineering, and the right to award full-time master's degrees in integrated circuit engineering.
