The legend of the ancient well is no longer mysterious to the local people because of the official records. According to Huiyang County Records, the plane of the ancient well is irregular, and the sand bottom and well site are made of stone, about 8 meters long, 6 meters wide and 1.8 meters deep. Well water is warm in winter and cool in summer, crystal clear, endless, overflowing all year round, clear and light, hence the name "Freshwater Ancient Well". Legend has it that in a dry year, a farmer scooped water to irrigate his fields. At noon, the scorching sun is like fire, and his wife Abel Tamata sends porridge. On the way, I met an unkempt and stumbling old man and asked her for porridge to satisfy my hunger. Seeing his pity, the woman scooped him porridge. After drinking porridge, the old man handed the woman a bamboo tube and turned away. The farmer was hungry, waiting for porridge, but his wife only sent a bamboo tube. After listening to his wife's story, the farmer was furious and threw the bamboo tube a few feet away, cursing: "What's the use of this useless ear!" " "Suddenly the bamboo tube fell, and the water was in uproar, and the spring water poured out of the bamboo tube. The farmer realized that the old man was a fairy. Later, people built this well here for this purpose. Before Deng Chengxiu wrote Poems on Eight Scenes of Freshwater, it was said that someone saw herring that could only survive in seawater in an ancient well, so there was a saying that "the ancient well was connected with the East China Sea Temple". Time flies, when the water pipes of waterworks replaced the ancient wells, the ancient wells naturally became outdated products under the wave of economic development. In the late 1990s, the land around Gu Jing was expropriated to build today's stadiums and swimming pools.
