Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts, located in Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, referred to as "Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts", is a higher education institution. Fine arts college, Shaanxi Province's "Domestic First-class University Construction College", Shaanxi Province's provincial high-level university, the Ministry of Education's Red Classic Art Education Demonstration Base for Colleges and Universities, the Northwest Animation Education Base of the Ministry of Radio, Film and Television, the third one to be awarded the right to confer a doctoral degree It is a domestic academy of fine arts, the first batch of master's and bachelor's degree awarding units in the country, the first batch of graduate training units for Master of Arts (MFA), a qualification unit for on-the-job master's degree training for college teachers, and a social art level assessment institution.

Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts was founded in 1949. Its predecessor was the Second Branch of Northwest People's Art Institute. In July 1949, it moved from Linfen, Shanxi to Xingguo Temple, Xi'an, and was renamed the Art College of Northwest Military and Political University. Art College, Northwest Art College and other stages, it was officially named Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts in May 1960. In 1994, the entire college moved to Yanta District, Xi'an. In 2007, it won "Excellent" in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching work by the Ministry of Education. In 2011, it was listed among the high-level and distinctive universities under key construction in Shaanxi Province. In 2018, it was listed as a “Domestic First-Class University Construction University” by Shaanxi Province.

As of December 2022, the college has three campuses: Yanta Campus, Chang'an Campus and Lintong Campus.
