Development of Tuen Mun Hospital

The hospital was founded in 1979, opened on March 8, 1990, and opened in the first quarter of 199 1 year. It is now managed by the Hospital Authority, which is affiliated to the New Territories West Hospital Cluster. Together with Pok Oi Hospital, Castle Peak Hospital and Siu Lam Hospital in the cluster, it provides services to residents in Tuen Mun New Town and northwest New Territories. As the former chief executive of Tuen Mun Hospital, Dr. Lu Zhiyuan, was transferred to the network director of Kowloon Chinese Medicine Hospital, the chief executive of Tuen Mun Hospital will be openly recruited later. The current chief executive of Tuen Mun Hospital will be represented by Dr. Luo Siwei for a period of six months.

Tuen Mun Hospital is one of the busiest hospitals in Hong Kong, with the number of emergency operations in 20 13 ranking first in Hong Kong. The utilization rate of operating beds is as high as 106.4%, which is equivalent to 100%. The reason is that Tuen Mun Hospital is the only public hospital in Tuen Mun and there is no hospital in New Territories West. The other two public hospitals in Tuen Mun, Castle Peak Hospital and Siu Lam Hospital, are mental hospitals, so they cannot share Tuen Mun Hospital. The Pok Oi Hospital in the New Territories West Cluster is located in Yuen Long District, providing only about 400 beds, which can basically meet the needs of residents in Yuen Long District. Tuen Mun residents can only go to Tuen Mun Hospital if they don't want to go online for medical treatment. Besides serving Tuen Mun, Tuen Mun Hospital also serves residents in Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai, so the service load of Tuen Mun Hospital is too heavy. Tin Shui Wai Hospital is expected to be completed in the middle of 20 16, when the load of Tuen Mun Hospital will be reduced.
