I don't know why, everyone I know says it's a waste of time to go to graduate school, really?

As for the difficulty of postgraduate entrance examination, some people exaggerate it, and as a result, many students who could have been admitted to graduate school were scared away. However, some students underestimated the difficulty of the postgraduate entrance examination and underestimated their enemies. As a result, what could have been admitted was also a mess. Indeed, there should be a correct evaluation of the difficulty of the postgraduate entrance examination. It is inappropriate to exaggerate and underestimate its difficulty, and in many cases it is even harmful.

for the vast majority of students, I think the difficulty of postgraduate entrance examination is actually not high, because you can think about it, it is obviously impossible to set the national score line for postgraduate entrance examination too high to meet the enrollment situation of so many schools of different grades, and the difficulty of the topic is moderate and relatively stable, so you can know fairly well very early. The requirements are higher in the final exam of the university. As long as the students review carefully and spend enough time, it should not be a problem. Much of the workload of reviewing for the postgraduate entrance examination is not an effort to reach a certain score, but an effort to reduce the risk of failing the exam. Maybe you won't get a lot of things, but they are still meaningful, because they can reduce your risk of not getting into graduate school.

The problem is that many people are not clearly aware of this, so they don't think about how to arrange the review, especially the review of specialized courses, from the perspective of minimizing accidents. As a result, they often fail, giving people the impression that the postgraduate entrance examination is very difficult.

Of course, it is extremely wrong to think that the postgraduate entrance examination is easy. Postgraduate entrance examination needs to complete a series of workload. If a series of necessary work is not completed, there is little chance of trying to get into graduate school by luck. Only when you spend enough time and energy can we say that the postgraduate entrance examination is not difficult.

2. Only when you get good grades can you hope to get into graduate school?

Because the entrance examination for graduate students only takes five courses, it has something to do with the seriousness of review, the length of review and whether the methods are correct or not, and it has little to do with the usual academic performance. I know a graduate model of Zhejiang University (there are only 3 in the whole school a year). Because I was too confident, I thought I usually got good grades and didn't review carefully. As a result, I didn't get into the graduate school and did badly in the exam (but later I went to a top 2 school in the United States to study). And I heard from the teacher in the department that several students did well in the exam because they didn't have a degree and had no other way out. Therefore, the key to getting into the exam is how to review. Don't be afraid to take the postgraduate entrance examination because of your poor grades. You can't study as hard as the postgraduate entrance examination at ordinary times, so your usual grades are of little reference value, because you may not like studying very much, so you have no intention. Therefore, your usual grades often can't represent your true level and potential, so you don't count.

3. When is a good time to start preparing for the postgraduate entrance examination?

Although I think it's better to decide what school and major you want to take as early as possible, it's a bit too much for some college students to start preparing from the time they enter college or from their sophomore year. In this way, the whole university life completely revolves around the postgraduate entrance examination. When I recall my own university life in the future, I will inevitably feel that I gave up too many things for the postgraduate entrance examination. Others have a beautiful university life, but my own university life is bleak.

Therefore, I think that if you have decided to take the postgraduate entrance examination, you will learn it very seriously as long as you see the courses to be taken in the postgraduate entrance examination in the future before your junior year, and learn a level similar to that of the postgraduate entrance examination (for example, if you look at it in class, especially before the final exam), that is, you are preparing for being admitted to the graduate school smoothly in the future. Before the third year, try to learn all math classes well and improve English to CET-6 or CET-6 as soon as possible, which is a good preparation for the postgraduate entrance examination.

If I take this major, I think it's enough to start reading math and some professional courses after my junior year. If it's a cross-major, it's best to start learning some courses in this major in junior year or directly read the designated reference books for postgraduate entrance examination in this major, and then start reading textbooks with the same title as the designated reference books, but with different authors and some differences in content in junior year, which can increase the understanding of the designated teaching materials and reduce the risk of unfamiliar content during the examination. Recently, perhaps because of the fierce competition for postgraduate entrance examination, I have heard that many schools' specialized courses exceed the designated textbooks in a large area, and sometimes even more than half of the exam contents can't be found in the designated reference books (mainly economics and pure liberal arts majors), so it is very important to read some other textbooks as soon as possible. If the designated textbooks are obviously not authoritative, shallow or comprehensive, you should carefully study the authoritative textbooks with the same name as the book.

4. What should I do before I officially start preparing for the postgraduate entrance examination?

First of all, you should try to ask some old students who have just passed the postgraduate entrance examination. No matter whether they pass the examination or not, there are some lessons you can learn, which can minimize big and directional mistakes. At the same time, you can also ask them to make a list of reference books for you, so as to avoid the trouble of blindly looking for books. The quality of reference books is extremely important, otherwise it will not only waste time, but also work hard and may not be effective.

Although you may have known the enrollment situation of the school you want to apply for in previous years and bought the previous designated reference books, you should still pay attention to whether the designated reference books in the new enrollment brochure have changed. You should browse the school's home page and read the new enrollment brochure to confirm whether the designated reference books have changed.

But the most important thing is to get in touch with the graduate students of that major in the school you want to study as soon as possible, and go there directly by phone, email or during the summer vacation to ask them for some exam experience. This is very important, because you can avoid the big mistakes in orientation! Don't be afraid to disturb others. Most graduate students are good and enthusiastic.

5. Conflicts between postgraduate entrance examination and job hunting, attending classes and final exams

Since you have chosen postgraduate entrance examination, it means that you don't have much time to look for a job before the postgraduate entrance examination is over, and you shouldn't spend too much time looking for a job, otherwise you will end up with nothing. In my experience, Zhejiang University's annual large-scale job fair in autumn is a great test for those who take the postgraduate entrance examination, because at this time many people feel that the postgraduate entrance examination is quite hard and the days are rather boring, and they are somewhat hesitant about whether they can get into the postgraduate entrance examination or not, and they are hesitant about whether their decision is correct or not. At this time, once you find a decent job at the job fair, or see your classmates find a decent job, you will be shaken, and there are quite a few people who start to look for a job, have no intention to study or simply announce that they will not take the postgraduate entrance examination. They gave up all their efforts, and in the end, they didn't actually find any good jobs. At least compared with the jobs and development opportunities they could find after being admitted to graduate schools, few people found such good jobs, but they gave up early. What a pity. Many people in this situation later regretted it, because it was never as easy as some students thought to take the postgraduate entrance examination after work, and they had to work several times more than when they were fresh (for example, those on-the-job postgraduate students had to study late into the night after work, but there was still not enough time) and bear greater pressure (for example, quitting the postgraduate entrance examination, family and friends had high expectations, and they didn't want you to fail, because there was personal life and financial burden for their families behind the failure).

So I emphasize once again that since we are going to take the postgraduate entrance examination, we should not spend too much time looking for a job before the end of the postgraduate entrance examination, but I think we can still go to the job fair on campus, but if we start to obsess about finding a job from now on, it's not worth it. If you find that you really did badly in the exam after the exam, you can also look for it in the winter vacation and the second semester after the postgraduate entrance examination (there are many job fairs around the country after the Spring Festival, so don't miss it). If you think about going to work early if you don't pass the exam, and always think about leaving a good way out for your failure early, you will usually fail the exam.

The postgraduate entrance examination is tense, so when you review to a certain extent, you will find that there seems to be not enough time, and there are not a few people who want to skip classes and review, right? To tell you the truth, I skipped about one-third of the classes in the postgraduate entrance examination semester, because I felt that time was really not enough, and the professional courses that the teachers took were relatively simple, but the teachers were definitely not happy when they saw the students skipping classes, so they should make good relations with the teachers and talk to them more about their objective situation. However, on the whole, if you prepare early, you may not have to skip classes to be admitted to graduate school.

6. Review arrangement

First of all, you should know the specific requirements of the mathematics you took. Mathematics is divided into Mathematics 1-Mathematics 4, and the required content and difficulty are decreasing. Generally speaking, mathematics includes advanced mathematics (calculus), linear algebra, probability theory and mathematical statistics, but the requirements of different majors are very different. Please be sure to understand the contents of mathematics in the postgraduate entrance examination before reviewing the mathematics textbooks, and don't waste time reading those contents that are not required at all. English is the same in arts and sciences, but politics is divided into arts and sciences. Although most of the political contents of arts and sciences are the same, liberal arts still have some different contents, which should be paid attention to.

not all people have to take the above three public courses. Mathematics is only for the majors of science, engineering, agriculture, medicine and economic management, but not for other majors. If you want to take three public * * * courses, there are only two specialized courses. Except for the courses required by Peking University's postgraduate entrance examination, there are not many specialized courses in other schools, and five designated reference books float up and down. If you only need to take two public courses (English and Politics) and you have three specialized courses, you should specify about 5-1 reference books (please refer to the application guide of each school).

To understand the characteristics of specialized course examinations in different schools, there are often great differences in the ideas of setting questions in specialized courses in different schools. In some schools, the specialized courses are definitely given according to the designated reference books, and it is easy to buy the examination papers of the specialized courses for your review and reference. Some schools don't specify reference books for their specialized courses, or they often go beyond the scope of the specified reference books, and like some topics related to papers published in recent academic magazines or hot topics recently discussed in academic circles (such as law, you usually have to read the law journals in recent years, and the recent masterpieces and other important articles published by law professors in your examination unit are often read), so if you have tested the contents of papers before, you should arrange time to read these papers.

As mentioned earlier, you should finish reading mathematics in junior year as much as possible. I think it is best to finish reading mathematics and completing the exercises of supporting counseling books before the summer vacation in junior year, and then you can attend some summer public classes and professional classes if you have the economic conditions (depending on your own situation).

At that time, I didn't know much about any remedial classes in Beijing and Shanghai, so I took part in the public remedial classes organized by the Graduate School of Zhejiang University at the end of November. I felt that the teaching level of the math teachers in the remedial classes in Zhejiang University was very good and very helpful, but my other English and political feelings didn't improve much. Therefore, I think if you want to attend English and political remedial classes, you'd better attend a higher level class in Beijing or Shanghai. Be sure to review it before attending the remedial class, otherwise it will be a waste of money and have no effect at all.

Politics: I think it's enough to read the books compiled by the Department of Higher Education the year before from the summer vacation, and learn the books compiled by others. You don't have to work hard to read them, just read them pleasing to the eye first, and don't recite them. It's enough time to start reciting them in September when you are familiar with them.

I mentioned earlier that taking CET-6 is to prepare for the postgraduate entrance examination, but I want to emphasize that the topics of postgraduate entrance examination are much more difficult than CET-6, especially reading comprehension, and the style and content of the examination are not exactly the same. Don't be careless about English for postgraduate entrance examination just because CET-6 is good. If you don't review carefully, even if you have a good foundation, you will often do badly in the exam!

There is an outline vocabulary for the English postgraduate entrance examination. Don't just memorize a vocabulary with only Chinese meaning but no example sentences. You should find a book with example sentences, pick out those unfamiliar words and copy them into your notebook. Don't cook both familiar and unfamiliar words in one pot, so as to increase your memory burden. The basic way to remember words is to copy and try to recall. There is too much to talk about this, not much to talk about.

7. Recommended Bibliography

(1) Mathematics

When reviewing for the first time, you can use Zhejiang University's own advanced mathematics (calculus) textbook. For other students who don't use Zhejiang University's textbook or Advanced Mathematics compiled by Tongji University (Volume I, Higher Education Edition), you should use this advanced mathematics book compiled by Tongji University (note that this book of Tongji University is for science and engineering majors) Advanced Mathematics Tutoring edited by Zhang Yuande (Volume I), ***31.5 yuan, Tsinghua University Publishing House. This book is especially useful for those students who have a poor foundation in advanced mathematics.

The textbook of linear algebra can be from Zhejiang University. If you find it difficult to understand, you can also read a book of linear algebra published by Tsinghua University Publishing House (edited by five people including Ju Yuma and 15 yuan). It is said that people who take the postgraduate entrance examination unanimously recommend this book of linear algebra. Supporting counseling books can be used "Linear Algebra Counseling" (second edition) edited by Hu Jinde and Wang Feiyan, which is excellent by 15 yuan and Tsinghua University Publishing House!

Tsinghua undergraduates also sent out an advanced mathematics tutorial book, Calculus Learning Guide edited by Han Yunrui, Liu Qinghua, Wang Yanlai and Wu Jiehua, 18 yuan, which should be very good, relatively thin and easy to read (I have never used it, but it is widely used in Tsinghua, so it should be good).

The classic textbook of probability theory and mathematical statistics should be the one compiled by Sheng Chu of Zhejiang University (Higher Education Edition), and many people use this textbook to prepare for the postgraduate entrance examination. I used this book for class and review. I did all the exercises at the back of the book in the first review, and I thought those topics were not bad.

Tsinghua University Publishing House and springer Publishing House jointly published a "Tsinghua University Teaching Reference Book and Teaching Book for Postgraduate Entrance Examination", edited by Yu Zhengguang, Wang Feiyan, Alfred and Zhao Hengxiu, "College Mathematics: Concepts". Methods and Skills (the first volume is calculus, the second volume is linear algebra and probability theory), the first volume is 29 yuan, and the second volume is 24 yuan, which can be bought separately.

(2) English

I used to use Wang Changxi's Review Guide, but almost all people who take the postgraduate entrance examination in Beijing use Zhu Taiqi's review book, which should be reasonable. Others are the analysis of examination questions over the years (from 1995 to 22), CET-6 full-true questions (just reading comprehension), and the Universal Composition for Postgraduate Entrance Examination, which I recommend for English writing. 18 yuan is very good. Others are Zhang Jinxin's reading comprehension and simulation questions. Someone recommended Bi Jinxian's reading comprehension. Shi Chunzhen's simulation questions are ok except for correcting mistakes, and others are not worth doing, which wastes time, especially reading comprehension.

(3) Politics

A review book (Aviation Industry Press) compiled by the Department of Higher Education organized by Yu Xueben and others is necessary. The outline analysis of Higher Education Press and the examination questions over the years since 1995 (note that the examination content has changed greatly). Others, such as Ren Rufen's cross talk before the exam, are said to be good. I don't know anything else. It is better to consult other students who have just passed the exam.

(4) Specialized courses

The National People's Congress version of the test guidance book series contains the past years' examination questions of economic management, law, computer electronic medicine and other majors of famous schools. It is of certain reference value to arrange the past years' specialized course examinations of each school in chapters according to their contents. At the same time, the publishing house also has a postgraduate entrance examination over the years.
