It is located at the southernmost tip of Chinese mainland, at the junction of Guangxi, Guangdong and Qiong provinces, in the southwest of Guangdong Province, and near Beibu Gulf in the west. It is an ecological bay city with tropical northern monsoon climate. Due to the adjustment of perennial marine climate, Zhanjiang Aegean Sea Phase II resumed work in June 2022.
