If you don't live in your hometown, should you sell your hometown house?

My husband once told my in-laws that even if we bought a good house in the city, the house in my hometown would not be sold. If one day the country commandeers the homestead, we should build a house in our hometown, because that is the place where we were born and the ancestral home of our family. In this regard, my in-laws also expressed their support for our view, because they are used to living in the house in their hometown.

First of all, my husband and I think that the house in the city is only for the needs of children to go to school. The educational resources, medical facilities and even supporting facilities in the city are better than those in their hometown. In fact, buying a house in a city is mainly for the resources and facilities of that city. When it comes to living comfortably, the comfortable place is of course the house in their hometown. Living in my hometown, my neighbors have a good relationship. Sometimes when I'm not at home, my neighbors will be happy to look after the house. The human touch is particularly strong. Everyone likes to sit in the yard and talk about their parents' problems, recent situation and grandchildren when they are free. It's really good to spend their old age in their hometown.

Secondly, the consumption level in the city is so high that I have to buy an onion. For me who will retire in the future, the monthly daily expenses and the expenses of water, electricity and gas in the property are estimated to be barely enough. I'd better go home. In my spare time, I can grow some vegetables and fruits by myself, at least it is green and pollution-free. I can also go fishing with some friends, or walk along the country road with my wife. When I get old, I always want to leave my leaves.
