Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. is a modern large-scale ship assembly plant with strong alliance, complementary advantages and diversified investment, which is jointly funded by China State Shipbuilding Corporation, Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation, Shanghai Electric (Group) Company, China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Company and Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd.

The company is located in the south bank of Nangang reach of the Yangtze River estuary in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, with an existing area of 1.46 million square meters and a coastline length of 1.569 meters. The total investment of the first phase project is 320140,000 yuan, and the construction started in June, 1999, put into use in June, 2006, and completed and accepted in June, 2003, with an annual shipbuilding capacity of 654,380+0.2 million. The second phase of the project has a total investment of 654.38+200 million yuan, which started in March 2005 and is scheduled to be completed in March 2008. By then, the total annual shipbuilding will reach the scale of more than 2.6 million deadweight tons.
