What procedures are required for marriage registration? Materials

Application, review and registration and certificate collection are the three links in the marriage registration process.

(1) Application

Both parties who meet the requirements for marriage registration must hold relevant documents, certificates and 3 registration photos, and go to the marriage registration office where one party’s permanent residence is located to apply for marriage registration. The documents required for marriage registration application depend on individual circumstances. For divorced parties, divorce documents are also required.

Foreigners (including foreigners permanently residing in my country and temporarily coming to China, foreign Chinese, and foreign nationals settled in my country) who apply for marriage in China must hold their valid passport, "Foreigner Residence Permit" or Entry and residence documents for temporary visitors to China, certificates that can effectively prove their marital status and other materials.

(2) Review

The Marriage Registration Office will check and review the submitted application materials to find out whether the documents and certificates are consistent with the marriage conditions. (3) Registration and certificate collection

For those who meet the marriage requirements, the marriage registration office will register and then issue a marriage certificate; for divorced parties, the marriage registration office will The divorce certificate will be cancelled; at the request of the parties concerned, the marriage registration agency will issue a written statement to those who do not meet the marriage conditions, explaining the reasons for disapproval of registration.

What procedures and documents are needed for divorce?

The divorce registration process is as follows:

(1) Application

Both parties voluntarily divorce , should sign a divorce agreement in accordance with the regulations, apply together with the relevant marriage registration office, and provide the following certificates and supporting materials as required:

1. Issued by the Mainland Marriage Registration Office, or by the Chinese Embassy abroad, Marriage certificate issued by the consulate;

2. Valid identity document that meets the requirements for divorce registration, such as household register, ID card, pass or passport, etc.;

3. Fill it out on site "Application Form for Divorce Registration".

(2) Acceptance

The staff of the Marriage Registration Office will conduct a preliminary review of the application materials submitted by the couple in accordance with regulations. After the marriage registrar reviews the certificates and certification materials submitted by the parties for the first time and is correct, they will issue a receipt of acceptance of the divorce registration application. If the conditions are different from those of the divorce registration application, the relevant application will not be accepted, and the parties concerned may request the issuance of a "Notice of Non-acceptance of the Divorce Registration Application".

(3) Cooling-off period

Within thirty days from the day the marriage registration office receives the divorce registration application and issues the “Divorce Registration Application Acceptance Slip” to the parties, If either party is unwilling to divorce, they can submit their request to withdraw the divorce registration application to the marriage registration agency that accepts the divorce registration application with their valid identity documents and the "Receipt Slip for Acceptance of Divorce Registration Application" (the lost receipt slip can explain the situation in writing), and Fill out the application form for withdrawal of divorce registration as required. After verification by the marriage registration agency, a "Confirmation Form for Withdrawal of Divorce Registration Application" will be issued. Within thirty days after the divorce cooling-off period expires, if both parties fail to go to the marriage registration authority to apply for a divorce certificate together, the divorce registration application will be deemed to have been withdrawn.

(4) Review
