He looks only in his thirties, but he manages Shenzhen Hongxing Freight Yard and several freight yard service branches in China. General manager Tang Jiehui keeps a low profile and doesn't talk much. But when it comes to the yard, we seem to have found the same topic. He is one of the earliest figures in Shenzhen freight yard industry. More than ten years ago, Mr. Tang, who was in his twenties, came to Shenzhen alone with great enthusiasm. Born as an electromechanical student, he quickly found a job in the repair department of Shekou Container Terminal. This is the first time he has ever touched a container. Although the days of working are very hard, he has a deep understanding of the container industry here and learned to repair containers, which laid a solid foundation for him to establish a yard in the future.

1996 is the turning point of general manager Tang's life. This year, Shekou Wharf, COSCO Group and China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone jointly registered and established Shenzhen Wanyonglian Container Co., Ltd., and Mr. Tang with outstanding performance was transferred to work here. 1998 Wan set up a freight yard branch in Yantian, and Mr. Tang also came to Yantian. To his delight, the company provided an opportunity to get an international box inspector, which was of great help to his later life. At that time, the container transportation industry was just emerging in China. Mr. Tang, who was far-sighted, knew that it would definitely be a promising career in the future, so he became the first person in China to apply for this certificate and went to Qingdao for training and review with his colleagues for more than a month. Mr. Tang graduated from technical school, but with a weak English foundation, he overcame all kinds of difficulties and finally got the certificate at 1999. So far, there are only more than 200 international box inspectors in Shenzhen, while there are only more than 500 in China. After five years of hard work, Mr. Tang felt that the time was ripe and began to plan and open up his own life path. 200 1, Mr. Tang left his job and joined other companies to do some container maintenance business, waiting for the opportunity.

Of course, he is open-minded and cheerful, with a loud voice. He can often be seen at friends' banquets and on the stage of various parties. But he and general manager Tang Jiehui are definitely a pair of hard-to-find partners.

Speaking of why Mr. Ding entered this industry, and he can walk with Mr. Tang as a partner, even Mr. Ding said it was a mistake. Mr. Ding, a university graduate, was originally the secretary of the Youth League Committee of a state-owned enterprise in a city in Hunan. Young and energetic, he didn't want to spend his life in a small place, so he packed his bags and came to Shenzhen without hesitation. Teacher Ding has a good voice, likes singing and is good at drawing. When he first arrived in Shenzhen, he worked in the western-style ballroom in Huadu, Shenzhen International Trade Center. Later, he opened a nightclub of his own, and his business was booming. Not long after the facade expired, the boss did not intend to rent it out again, so Mr. Ding had to find another place. Mr Ding has an old classmate, Xie Bin, who is also in Shenzhen. As soon as I heard that his nightclub couldn't go on, I asked him to open a hotel together, and Mr. Ding readily agreed. The two men had a lot of trouble in choosing an address and signing a contract. When they were waiting to make a big impact in the hotel catering industry, they didn't expect the landlord to break the contract and rent the facade to others at a higher price. After two consecutive setbacks, Mr. Ding was somewhat disheartened. It happens that Mr. Ding's old classmate is engaged in the trailer transportation industry in Yantian. To enlighten him, let him come to Yantian every day. After a long time, Mr. Ding began to understand the logistics industry, and then he also met his business partner Tang Jiehui.

Mr. Tang and Mr. Ding became friends under the introduction of their old classmates. After several conversations, I found that the two have the same interests and appreciate each other. At this time, Mr. Tang's idea of opening a yard became stronger and stronger, and he just found a suitable venue. He was short of a right-hand man like Mr. Ding, and they hit it off. The Red Star Courtyard is so prosperous.

It is difficult to start a business early. Fortunately, there were not many yards in Shenzhen at that time, and the competition was not great. As the business manager, Mr. Ding develops customers every day. The core work of the yard is to serve the container trailer transportation industry and provide services such as container leasing, maintenance and storage. Mr. Dante doesn't know anyone in the trailer industry, so he has to rely on the most primitive method: for this reason, he printed more than 20 thousand yuan of business cards and promotional materials, and left footprints in every office building and transportation company in Yantian. There was a salesman who entered Red Star with Mr. Ding at the same time. He worked for less than three days and resigned because he couldn't stand the pain. Mr. Dante persisted. With his persistent spirit, he finally got in touch with the bosses of some trailer companies, and Red Star gradually got a customer base. Recalling the hardships and tiredness at the beginning, Mr. Ding had mixed feelings. He used to run dozens of buildings on his legs without taking the elevator every day, and didn't sleep for a whole week. But compared with the constant flow of passengers from Red Star, he felt that it was far from insignificant.

Business is booming, but the competition is becoming more and more fierce. Shenzhen has developed from the first few yards to more than 30 yards now, and Mr. Tang shows his concern about this industry from time to time. Freight yard is a link in the logistics chain. It is precisely because of the development of port logistics industry and the improvement of cargo turnover rate that the freight yard has a living space. But so far, there is no administrative department or institution to guide the development of this industry, and "disorderly, chaotic and irregular management" has always existed in this industry. Mr. Tang said that before registering a storage yard, a professional unpacking inspector, a registered safety officer and a set of equipment that meets the standards are needed. But now many yards just rent a piece of land and start operations with modified forklifts, which is irregular and very dangerous. The cost of the yard is very high. One month's rent of Red Star, plus the loss and oil consumption of various equipment of more than 400,000 yuan, the rent of each TEU is only 10 yuan. Small profits lead to vicious competition, and some even operate at a loss.

Tang is always a businessman with a business mind. Because the freight yard was thin, he began to lead the company to diversify. Hongxing is now not only engaged in container storage and maintenance, but also engaged in leasing cabinets and ordering agents. In addition, it has its own fleet, which can be said to have accumulated various advantages.

Mr. Ding said that the reason why the Red Star Courtyard can develop to this day is actually very simple, and the key lies in employing people. Hongxing only has more than 30 employees, but everyone puts the interests of the company first. Red star doesn't pay much attention to academic qualifications or experience, but to personality. He thinks that the most important thing to do a good job is responsibility. However, the treatment given by Red Star to employees is also better in the yard industry, so most employees have never left after entering Red Star.

When Red Star set up a branch in Shekou, Mr. Ding slept in the yard for a whole month. Some truths may be difficult to understand, and some truths may be related to specific people. However, in terms of external service, Red Star has its own secrets and characteristics, that is, diligence and honesty. Freight yard profits are thin, and only constant passenger flow can make profits, which requires diligence. Of course, Red Star also attaches great importance to building its own brand, not only providing customers with high-quality and efficient services, but also doing its best to solve various problems for customers. That's how they behave. Doing things honestly and doing their best has become their style.

At the end of the interview, Mr. Tang told the author that in addition to the storage yard in Yantian, Red Star has set up branches in Shekou and Tianjin, Guangxi, and is going to visit Shanghai and Ningbo this year. Although the freight yard industry is not so standardized and the relevant laws and regulations are not so perfect, Red Star still has a good prospect in the chaotic market environment. The author believes that it is the persistence of General Manager Tang and General Manager Ding that paves the way for the development of Red Star.
