1. Shanhaiguan

Shanhaiguan is located 15 kilometers northeast of Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province. It is named because it is between the mountains and the sea. This is the choke point between Northeast China and North China. It is the first pass at the starting point of the Great Wall. It is commonly known as the "No. 1 Pass in the World" along with Tongguan in Shaanxi Province.

Shanhaiguan is an ancient cultural city. The city wall buildings of the Ming Dynasty are basically intact. Most of the main streets and alleys have been preserved as they were. In particular, there are still a number of courtyard houses that have been preserved, making the ancient city more elegant and simple. What adds most to the beauty of the ancient city is the east gate of Guancheng, the largest Guancheng tower in the world, which stands on top of the Great Wall and commands a majestic view of the surrounding areas. 2. Tongguan

Tongguan is located in the north of Tongguan County, Weinan City, Shaanxi Province, bordering the Yellow River to the north and the mountainside to the south. It has a long history and is famous far and wide. As the choke point of North China, the Central Plains, and the northwest, Gutong Pass ranks second among the top ten famous passes in China. It is the east gate of Guanzhong. It is the only way to go from Chang'an in the west to Luoyang in the east. It has always been a battleground for military strategists.

Tongguan is one of the most famous passes in ancient my country. Tongguan is located in the eastern part of the Guanzhong Plain, at the strategic location of the three provinces of Qin, Shanxi and Henan. The situation in Tongguan is very dangerous, with the Qinling Mountains to the south. There is the Forbidden Valley in the southeast, and there are 12 Liancheng in the south of the valley; in the north there are Wei and Luo Rivers that meet the Yellow River and hug the pass down, and in the west it is close to Huayue.

"Guan" is a battleground for military strategists of all dynasties, and has the reputation of "Guan within the Guan". One of the top ten passes in China, it is located 35 kilometers south of Jigong District, Xinyang City, Henan Province, at the junction of Henan and Hubei provinces.

It locks Ezhou in the south and screens the Central Plains in the north, controlling the traffic chokepoints between the north and the south. Wushengguan was called the Great Tunnel Pass in ancient times (some say it is the Zhiyuan Pass). South Wusheng Pass was called Wuyang Pass in Qi Dynasty. 4. Youyi Pass

5. Jiayuguan

Jiayuguan is an important pass at the western end of the world-famous Great Wall. It is located in Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province. It was called the "Xiongguan in the world" in ancient times. The plane of Jiayuguan City is trapezoidal, and a thick wall was built outside the west wall, making the defense of the city stronger.

The city wall is 11.7 meters high and has a total length of 733.3 meters. The city wall covers an area of ??more than 33,500 square meters. There are low earth walls parallel to the outside of the south and north city walls, forming Luocheng. There are two east and west gates in Guancheng, Guanghua Gate in the east and Rouyuan Gate in the west. There are towers built on them, 17 meters high, three bays wide, with a three-story hilltop and surrounding corridors, making it majestic.

There is a wide slope horse trail on the north side of Guancheng, leading directly to the top of the city. Outside the east and west gates, there are barbicans. The gate of the barbican opens to the south and is not connected to the main gate of Guancheng. The east barbican gate is called "Chaozong" and the west barbican gate is called "Huiji". More than 10 meters away from the west gate of Wengcheng, there is a rectangular pass, side by side with Guancheng. The gate opens to the west, and three powerful characters "Jiayu Pass" are engraved on the forehead of the gate.
