Can I only become a doctor after graduating from medical school?

I have five years of undergraduate studies + three years of postgraduate studies. I have studied medicine for eight years and have successfully switched careers. Here is the answer. Let me tell you about my background first: I have a master's degree in internal medicine in a clinical hospital and studied medicine for eight years. After graduating last year, I chose not to be a doctor and directly found a job in a pharmaceutical company!

The reasons why I don’t want to be a doctor:

1. I don’t want to work the night shift. I no longer want to have the experience of being woken up by the phone ring in the duty room to rescue patients while sleeping late at night. As long as I couldn't sleep during the night shift. I worked the night shift for less than three years during the regular training period. Every time I was called up to see patients during the night shift, I would feel my heartbeat speed up and my stomach acid secrete like crazy. If I work the night shift for a few more years, I will probably be the one who needs to be rescued. (Being a doctor is really hard. I tell everyone not to stay up late every day, but I stay up late to treat patients. So those who stick to their posts as doctors are really worthy of respect. They are trading one's own health for the patient's health).

2. There are no weekends or holidays. I have to go to the ward to see patients every morning, almost all year round.

3. In fact, the most important reason is that my empathy is too strong. There are too many human sufferings in the hospital. Every time I encounter an unfortunate patient, I feel very uncomfortable. However, I deeply feel that my personal ability is not enough. If you don't get sick, you can't help others. (So ??being a doctor must be rational but without losing warmth, so that you can better treat diseases and save people)

4. In today’s doctor-patient relationship, I have seen unnecessary prescribing of a lot of unnecessary drugs and examinations to patients in order to make money. Dr. Liang, I have also seen patients who stood in the corridor the next day after Dr. Tao Yong’s accident and yelled, “You doctors just don’t deserve treatment.” Deeply trapped in this environment, unable to change but unwilling to blend in. (I hope that the medical environment can improve in the future. While supervising unscrupulous doctors, we should also take certain punitive measures for patients who make trouble)

5. Being a doctor is too complicated... If you want to get a professional title , scientific research and clinical practice must be done with both hands, otherwise you will be a doctor for thousands of years, and there will be endless meetings and exams...

If you have the same idea as me, but don’t know how to change careers as a medical student , how to find a job? I hope the following content can give you some help.

In fact, there are still many choices for medical students to change careers, such as civil servants within the system, teachers in universities or vocational colleges, medical record rooms, medical departments in hospitals, etc.; there are more choices outside the system, such as: Physical examination center institutions, high-end nursing home doctors, accompanying physicians, Internet medical care (online medical treatment), you can also go to pharmaceutical companies to work as clinical supervisors (CRA), clinical coordinators (CRC), medical liaison officers (MSL), medical consultants ( MA) etc. If you have a specialty or a career you are very passionate about, you can also become a writer, singer, etc. You can choose the direction you are interested in based on your personal situation, and then learn more about the work content, salary, promotion prospects, etc. in your intended direction, and finally choose what you want to do. Every industry has good and bad sides. , you can’t have your cake and eat it too, I hope you can choose the one that suits you best after fully understanding the pros and cons. After understanding the direction you are interested in, you can apply for a job through four common channels: school selection fairs, hospitals, company official websites, job search APPs (such as Liepin, BOSS Direct Recruitment, Zhaopin Recruitment), and referrals from acquaintances.

I have been working in a pharmaceutical company for three months now. I work from 9 to 5, with weekends and holidays. My life without night shift or emergency treatment is so happy. Choosing not to be a doctor and working in a pharmaceutical company does not mean choosing an easier path. I think no matter which path is easy, you need to constantly learn new knowledge in order to gain a firm foothold in the workplace. Being a doctor in a hospital requires the ability to treat diseases and save lives as well as scientific research capabilities. What is needed in a pharmaceutical company is comprehensive capabilities such as clinical research trial design, research plan writing, PPT production, and expert visits.

Studying medicine for eight years is a very valuable experience for me. I have seen too many different lives in clinical work, which has taught me to cherish and be content, so that I and my family can be healthy. It is the greatest happiness. I don’t regret choosing not to be a doctor after graduation. Many people around me don’t understand me and feel it’s a pity, but my own thoughts are the most important. Although I am no longer a doctor, medicine is still worth learning and doctors are always worthy of respect!

I hope those students who are as confused as me and don’t want to work in a hospital:

1. Don’t be disturbed by outsiders’ words. Please stick to your own ideas and choose what you want. life.

2. There are actually many choices after leaving the hospital. Don’t think that leaving the hospital is a waste of your academic qualifications and background. There are many outstanding people with medical backgrounds in the medical department of pharmaceutical companies (a lot of doctors and turtles) )

3. Everyone is choosing the life they want, and I hope everyone can keep loving it!
