Shuangjiang, named after the confluence of Lancang River and Xiaohe River in the southeast of the county, is the hometown of multi-ethnic culture in China and the only multi-ethnic autonomous county in China composed of Lahu, Wa, Bulang and Dai. It is the origin of China Mengku Daye Tea, which originated from Shuangjiang Daye Tea. It was appraised as a traditional tea variety in China by the National Tea Variety Committee in 1960s and 1980s.
