Introduction of Xie Lejun
I met Xie Lejun downstairs in Hunan Education Press. At first glance, it is really difficult to associate him with the status of a famous children's literature writer and editor-in-chief of fairy tale publications, but as long as you talk about fairy tales, you will think that he is really the king of fairy tales. This can be seen from his childlike innocent smile and frank behavior. Fairy tales let me always maintain a sincere and friendly childlike innocence, he said.
Less than 20 years old, Xie Lejun began to create fairy tales. Twenty years have passed, and he has successively created more than two million words of fairy tales. For him, creating fairy tales seems to be an inexhaustible cornucopia. We are curious: how can you keep writing fairy tales? Xie Lejun replied: My fairy tales originated from life, and life is the source of my literary creation.
From telling stories to writing stories
The initial connection with fairy tales originated from the time when Xie Lejun was teaching in a rural school twenty years ago.
Xie Lejun's father is an ordinary Chinese teacher in Dongkou No.2 Middle School, Hunan Province. He likes studying and teaching all his life. He taught in his hometown for more than 30 years and retired at the age of 20. At that time, there was a post policy. /kloc-Xie lejun, 0/6 years old, gave up the opportunity of college entrance examination two months later and went to work to become a rural teacher in Dongkou county.
At that time, the primary school where Xie Lejun taught was located on a remote mountain package far away from the village. There were only six teachers in the school. He loved art since childhood and longed to be a painter. The portraits of famous people such as Lei Feng in the school classroom were all drawn by him. Children like me, first of all, thanks to painting. They all like watching me draw. Xie Lejun became friends with the students. In his spare time, he often takes his students out for an outing or sketching.
In the early 1980s, rural primary schools were poor in running schools, lacking in extracurricular reading materials and materials, which could not satisfy students' thirst for knowledge. Every month, Xie Lejun will take out a considerable part of his monthly salary of 34.5 yuan to order newspapers such as Good Boy and Youth Literature Newspaper to read stories or news in newspapers for students. However, the limited literary stories in newspapers and periodicals are far from meeting the needs of children. As a last resort, he began to make up his own stories.
At the beginning, the material of Xie Lejun's story came from student life and his childhood memories. Thanks to his father's love for poems and songs and his profound knowledge of classical literature, Xie Lejun liked literature since he was a child. Fortunately for other children, Xie Lejun was able to read comic books borrowed by his father from school and children's literature periodicals such as Xiaoxi sent by his uncle who works in the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles. Through reading, he broadened his knowledge and broadened his horizons.
My second uncle often goes back to his hometown to write, gives me a' story meeting' and vividly reads his new works and outstanding children's literature works such as Chicken Hair Letter. Although my mother only attended a private school for a year and a half, she can read many books and newspapers. No matter how busy she is, she will take the time to tell me some myths and legends such as Grandma Long-haired Orangutan and Grandpa Hercules Yellow Hair. My grandfather is also a good storyteller. He likes to tell stories about "Black-faced Lei Gong" and our local legendary genius "Xie". More than 20 years have passed, and the wonderful memories of childhood are still engraved in Xie Lejun's memory.
Usually Xie Lejun will make up stories the night before, tell them to students the next day, and occasionally tell them while making up. Xie Lejun found that his stories are sometimes more popular with students than those in newspapers and periodicals. He sorted out his story and sent it to the newspaper he often subscribed to, but I didn't expect it to be published.
The fairy tale "Stay in Jinqiao", originally published in Shanghai Good Boy Magazine, originated from a folklore in his hometown. That's what my dad told me when I was a kid. This is a folk story of "good intentions are rewarded". Xie Lejun refined and processed this ancient folk story, giving it a deeper meaning and a new life. Later, there was a fairy tale of "The Magpie and Myna", which was based on his childhood when he saw Myna occupying the magpie's nest in the buttonwood tree behind the house. Two birds fought for life and death, and Myna drove the magpie away. These are two of his early fairy tales.
When Xie Lejun was teaching in a primary school, he used his spare time to create fairy tales such as March 28th, Rabbit King and Monkey Doctor, Changing Nose, Learning from Monkeys, Four Box Teachers under house arrest and so on. Most of the themes expressed are related to education, such as children should be cautious, don't blindly follow the trend, have different attitudes towards different people and things, and teachers should use education and teaching methods flexibly. Until now, Xie Lejun still can't forget those children and that mountain village primary school.
Love fairy tales more than children.
Xie Lejun worked in rural schools for nearly ten years, taught Chinese, mathematics, fine arts, physical education and other primary school courses, worked as a young pioneers counselor, a Communist Youth League member, and later worked as a school district manager. During that time, he wrote fairy tales, novels, news, newsletters and broadcasts, and published more than 300,000 words in succession, becoming a household name in rural areas. He loves literature and enjoys the creative pleasure brought by literature, which also brings a turning point to his life.
Once, my colleagues and I ate at school. The director of the county education commission and the director of the office suddenly came to our school to talk to me and asked me if I could write fairy tales. I am a newborn calf. I said that writing materials is not as simple as literary creation. This still stumped me and surprised the director of the education commission. It turned out that Dongkou County Education Committee needed a secretary, and learned that a celebrity had many manuscripts in rural schools. Therefore, the leaders of the county education commission drove to Xie Lejun's school without informing anyone, in order to find out the true face of the pen that everyone was talking about. In this way, Xie Lejun was quickly seconded to the Dongkou County Education Committee.
After more than a year's work, Hunan Education News was founded, and more than a dozen editors and reporters were recruited for the whole province. Xie Lejun was successfully hired, and was assigned to Hunan Education magazine for editorial work due to work needs. Two years later, with interest and love for children's literature, Xie Lejun participated in the compilation of the Guide for Primary School Students.
1993 The newly-established Guide for Primary School Students wants to open a popular science column and introduce popular science knowledge to young readers in the form of novel scientific fairy tales. At that time, the Pupils' Guide contributed several writers, but none of them felt in place, and the fairy tales written were not satisfactory: knowledgeable and blunt; The story is vivid and the knowledge points are not taken into account ... Just when everyone is in a hurry, Xie Lejun plans to try it himself. Relying on his grasp of children's psychology when he was a teacher in the past, he found problems and inspirations from his daily life and wrote a series of stories about his mother Hu. Unexpectedly, after the fairy tale came out, Ma Mahu was very popular with young readers, and the science fairy tale column actually became the fist column of primary school reading guidance. Later, he opened a column of Lele fairy tales and began to write a long list of fairy tales, strange kings, magic tigers and winged cars, which have been serialized for more than ten years. At that time, the circulation of "Guide for Primary School Students" was as high as more than 4 million copies, which still had certain influence on society and primary and secondary schools. Xie Lejun said.
The fairy tales written by Xie Lejun have always been very popular with children. Whether you can write such a fairy tale depends mainly on his love for children. He has always advocated that children live happily and study happily. When writing fairy tales, he tried to find a way for young readers to accept, hoping to create a happy reading environment for children. Let young readers distinguish truth, goodness and beauty in easy reading and feel the happiness of love and sunshine.
In order to let children know more and better Chinese and foreign fairy tales, in 2000, Xie Lejun introduced Chinese and foreign fairy tale pictorial from Inner Mongolia Women's Federation and served as editor-in-chief. Four years later, he founded Children's Pictorial, which was devoted to promoting the interaction between creation and editing, and the influence of the publication continued to expand.
In 2004, he was recommended as the deputy director by the Children's Working Committee of Hunan Writers Association. During his tenure, he did many practical things for the children's literature writers in our province and organized a series of influential activities: he edited and published the Little Tiger Baby Children's Literature Series, which gathered two influential children's literature writers and their works in Hunan/KLOC-0, which attracted attention throughout the country; In June this year, "Little Tiger Baby Children's Literature Newcomer Series" was launched, bringing together 12 potential children's literature writers who have never published books in Hunan. In 2008, Hunan Children's Library was promoted to hold a large-scale children's literature exhibition, and a Hunan children's literature creation base was established to organize irregular exchanges among children's literature writers, small authors and readers in the province; On the occasion of the birth100th anniversary of the famous children's literature writer Zhang Tianyi, he also planned a large-scale commemorative activity and organized the first Zhang Tianyi Children's Literature Award, actively promoting more excellent children's literature works and writers for young readers.
Today, although Xie Lejun is engaged in heavy administrative work, he still does not forget to take time to create, taking serving the older generation of children's writers, introducing new children's literature and cultivating young writers as his mission and encouraging the cause of children's literature.
Fairy tales brought by fairy tales
Because of fairy tales, Xie Lejun, who has always been inarticulate, has been recognized by more people. In fact, fairy tales not only made him successful in his career, but also brought him a happy family. Xie Lejun told us that meeting and falling in love with his wife is also a red line drawn by fairy tales. His wife Yin Huiwen also wrote fairy tales and won many awards. My wife's fairy tales are all better than mine. Speaking of my wife, his face showed some pride.
When I first met her, she had just graduated from normal school and was assigned to teach in a rural middle school more than 500 meters away from my school. At that time, a kind-hearted person tried to fix me up, but she didn't take me seriously at all and politely refused. Good people feel hopeless, but I have a strong feeling that she is my destiny takes a hand. Xie Lejun recalled sweetly.
At that time, Xie Lejun worked in Qinglong School District of Dongkou County, and Yin Huiwen worked as a teacher in Qinglong Middle School. Because Yin Huiwen only met Xie Lejun once and didn't know much about him, he didn't pay attention to Xie Lejun at all, but an accidental opportunity changed Yin Huiwen's mind.
One National Day, Yin Huiwen was a guest at a classmate's house. She saw a "Stream" magazine on the desk, so she took it to read. Suddenly, her eyes lit up. It turned out that Xie Lejun came into view under the title of a fairy tale "The Adventures of the Rabbit King". After reading the fairy tale, Yin Huiwen's impression of Xie Lejun changed greatly. After that, the two began to correspond, and asked their classmates to be secret correspondents to discuss literature and creation together. Together, they wrote fairy tales such as White Swan without ID and Story of Zero, which were published in Xiaoxi and Youth Literature.
1989, Xie Lejun and Yin Huiwen entered the marriage hall, and the birth of their son Xiao Lele brought infinite happiness to this family. Xiao Lele likes fairy tales very much. In order to give his son a gift related to fairy tales, Xie Lejun published a series of fairy tales, Cars with Wings, which also expressed his thoughts on rural life.
Xie Lejun said that his son Xiao Lele is sometimes richer than he thought, and he often has unexpected whimsy, such as turning his bad temper on and off, turning his father into a son to go to kindergarten, turning his son into a father to go to work, and mushrooms grow into skyscrapers, which have brought good materials for Xie Lejun and his wife to create fairy tales. Often a family of three * * * creates fairy tales and enjoys the fun they bring.
However, for the healthy growth of children in China, Xie Lezan is not without worries: today's children are very smart, with broad horizons and wide knowledge, and the Internet has contributed a lot. However, while the network brings rich information to children, it also causes many adverse effects, such as internet addiction and staying away from literary reading. Today's children know too little about China's traditional culture, and have a weak impression on the piano, chess, calligraphy and painting and traditional festivals. On the contrary, they pay more attention to and attach importance to western festivals ... He wants to let children know the profoundness of China culture and learn the nutrients for healthy growth by writing fairy tales and telling stories. He once created a comic book "The Adventure of Slingshot Man" for left-behind children within one month. The story tells the story of how a left-behind child strives for self-improvement and self-protection in a difficult environment. Xie Lejun expressed the hope that the society can pay more attention to helping left-behind children, and that all left-behind children can grow up healthily and happily like ordinary children.
I don't like being interrupted when I'm creating. It takes a long time to find the interrupted train of thought. The current working environment is not conducive to creation. Xie Lejun has written fewer fairy tales in recent years because of his complicated affairs. Even so, Xie Lejun's fairy tale dream has not died out. He has always had such a wish: to return to his editing post, to make a better fairy tale publication, and to write a fairy tale that children love to watch. For the sake of the children, I will one day.
